Berry and Hipwood out after Friday night with injury.

So 8 or 9 best 23 out with injury.

The lions are #injured and have big excuses to fall back on for a loss this weekend.

Massive underdogs. The hawks wouldn’t want to let this one slip.

Hawks really shouldn't be losing this game if they're serious. Lions form at the GABBA has been patchy and with half of our best 18 not out on the field, there's no excuse for Hawthorn.

Hawks have led at 3QT in all 3 of their clashes against top 8 interstate sides away this season. Choked the lead in all of them. This pattern even extends back to last year where the same thing happened against Port Adelaide and GWS during the H&A season.

If Hawthorn are serious about making the most of finals this year then they’ll find a way to get the win this time. If it’s a mental obstacle then it’s unlikely one they’ll manage to overcome for the first time in finals if seeded at 7th/8th.

When was the last time the Hawks even played at the Gabba?

Never mind, found it R11 2019. There's only about half a dozen hawks who have played there before

Would be more than that given all the players that have come from other clubs

Berry a big loss. But Hipwood? Lions often look a player short with Hipwood wandering around like a lost sheep doing absolutely nothing.

Hipwood is a critical role player for us when you actually watch his game carefully and how we set up. Very good at adhering to his role and our structure.

He makes clangers but people act like we are paying him $1mpa.

The problem is how thin we are getting with almost 40% of our best 23 injured.

You've done well with that many players injured. I didn't realize it was that bad.

The problem with this one is if you lose, and all other results go as expected, you go down to 7th.

And if the Pies lose, we'll be 8th, and you'll be 6th. LOL, 2025. what a year.

IMO we wont risk him, rest him so he gets 3 weeks off, lions.com in their injury update said today's scan "cleared him of any serious injury."

It might be a matter of it doesn't matter whether he plays this week or in 3 weeks, the shoulder will be more or less the same. Might want to test it this week if thats the case.

Disclaimer: I am a doctor, of philosophy.

As many have said before.

We will know the winner in the first five minutes.

Either Brisbane come with intent and blow them out of the water or they don't and the Hawks cruise to a 10-20 point victory.

Going on the Lions form at the Gabba the Hawks should get the win. Both teams have some outs but Brisbane a few more which should likely hurt them. Hawks are in good form. Gunston will be a tough one to stop so hopefully Lester can do a job but it won't be easy.

Berry a big loss. But Hipwood? Lions often look a player short with Hipwood wandering around like a lost sheep doing absolutely nothing.

I think Hipwood being out is two fold.

Firstly, like mentioned above, he covers a fair amount of ground per game and spends a lot of time leading up the ground which creates space behind him for players like Morris and the medium/smalls to work in.

The other is that his potential replacements are either lumbering ruckman (McInerney, Smith) or going in with another small (McLachlan), both of which will change the team structure that's worked well. Otherwise we can go Ty Gallop, but he's a first year key position player that's still developing.

We're current teetering at that tipping point of having too many out for us to cover. The Sydney game tipped into that territory, but we welcomed two important defenders for the Freo game and we saw the result. This game sees Hipwood and likely Berry out of the side, with Lohmann coming back in. It'll be interesting to see what happens.
