Another chance for the Cats to show that no visiting team can ever quite work out how to find a teammate when those crazy boundary lines at KP make an appearance.

Oh wait
Yeah thought it was last two they’ve won or maybe 3 , but after checking they’ve won last 4 at Geelong! These two fighting for the same spot! 8 pointer !

I went for a half-walk half-jog last evening around the local oval at the new town I’ve moved to and noticed one of the picket fences has a straight section for 30 metres or so.

I thought ‘God if I ever had to navigate a boundary line or look for a teammate along here I don’t know what the hell I would do. Turn around and kick the thing in the other direction or start dropping marks I suspect.’

Doesn’t seem like GWS have ever had such an issue.

Lines and boundaries are tricky. I can only drive in open paddocks. Put me on a residential street and all sorts of carnage happens.

The Giants will be toughened up after a hitout against the powerful Sydney Swans reserves last week. The Cats deny every side the corridor at GMHBA, except for GWS who they seem to enjoy allowing to run through there with reckless abandon.

Giants by 56 points with Toby Greene kicking 8 goals

Interesting Geelong lineup, with the early expectaton that Kolodjashnij would come up; now it's confirmed that we'll be missing him along with Jack Henry and Tom Stewart.

Rhys Stanley going down with a hammy presents another problem: looks like Blicavs will have to ruck with de Koning in defence and Neale rucking in the forward line and giving Blicavs a five minute spell each quarter in the middle. Neale has actually shown plenty to me playing up the ground, not so much through his ruckwork, but just how clean he is at ground level for a big man.

The match-up for Toby Greene is critical, interesting to see Jed Bews coming in and I think it will be between him and the Irish boys (O'Connor and Mullin) as to who takes Greene as their primary focus. Also noteworthy is both George Stevens and Jay Polkinghorn named on the extended bench, I'd expect at least one to debut.

If we got through this at 6-3 with the players we’ve had out, and can get to the easier part of the draw (not that it guarantees us anything with our propensity to drop games we ought to win) with Henry, Kolodjashnij, Stewart, Humphries all back and Stanley to boot who has probably surprised everybody with how ‘above his normally below average’ level he’s been, on the back of Miers missing as well, it would be a fantastic position to launch from.

Fortunately I guess the injuries have occurred in the places we have some level of depth rather than the ball winners where if Smith or Danger or Atkins or Holmes went down we’d probably be f**ked

We already played a game without Stanley for 3 quarters last week so it'll be the same deal. Blicavs/Neale, but maybe a bit of SDK too. We won't be against a dominant ruck this time.

O'Connor should take Greene. He can at least try to go with him in the air after a good aerial game last week.

Personally I'd like to see Stevens given a go.

Wiltshire, Stevens and Polkinghorne named as emergencies. If Stevens or Polkinghorne gets a late call-up I hope they kill it but the reality is that they're in the 26 because we're very low on available bodies, not because they're banging the door down for a chance. If Miers or somebody else didn't come up then Restchko would have been in the squad as well.

We only have 30 players to choose from at the moment and, along with Retschko, the remaining three who missed out are Pike, Ivisic and Matofai-Forbes. Pike is a scrawny teenage ruckman who gets smashed by bigger non-AFL rucks every week while the other two just made their VFL debuts in our most recent game.
