What an exciting match. And to finish off the wonderful day, need to watch Chris Scott sook at the coach’s press conference!

It is not big enough to hold our supporters let alone yours as well and you know what it will probably be a 130 yrs before we play there again get use to it instead of sooking about it.
It's big enough now

The AFL is really strange in this regard. It should not matter how many seats are available to away fans

Probably someone closer to home

Hawthorn trains the flop, you've got Watson, Moore and Ginnivan the top 3 floppers in the league. Your opinion as a Hawthorn supporter holds no weight here friend

And all three of their moves can be traced back to one bloke.

The original.

It was a great game. Someone had to lose. I was barracking for gws but Geelong won't lose any admirers with that performance.

Yes and no.

If we had gone to 6-3 with the players missing from our defence plus no recognised ruckman it would be an outstanding spot to be in having played all but one of the other top 8 sides plus another who is, admittedly probably only in mathematical terms at least in St Kilda, vying for a position.

Bring Humphries, Stewart, Jack Henry, Jake Kolodjashnij, and Stanley, maligned as he may be, back into that side and it looks a hell of a lot stronger so another win looks bloody good.

But to get into a position where realistically we should have won, with the Giants having lost Stringer who for all his flaws looked very dangerous, was a bit of a failure

I'd rather we player Geelong there, we have a better record there against Geelong than at the G.

So it's not the burn you think it is.
The last time Collingwood played there was 1999, they've played 3 games there since 1990 so yeah I'm sure the gang would feel right at home down in Geelong with that 51% winning percentage established in the 1950s

Not sure if it’s just us or I just notice it more because it’s my team, and it’s actually all teams that do it, but gee we seem to over-commit players to opponents who are already ‘taken care of’ when the ball is in dispute.

Ie. there’s a stoppage or the ball gets kicked to a contest, it’s on the ground, an opponent might get to it first but there’s no way they can have time to direct a clean kick or hand pass to a teammate because they’re more or less tackled or pressured, but another player goes in to try and assist anyway instead of looking after a possible recipient of the random ‘get out desperation flick out’ and suddenly they are away in clear space.

They’re trying to do the right thing but all it does is allow the opposition extra extra players and time and space and almost invariably they’ll create a scoring opportunity out of it
One of the disciplines in modern footy is keeping width and not getting drawn into a contest by sacrificing an outlet. It can also happen in pack mark contests when it'd be handy to have outside sweepers set up to receive the ball when it's flung outside a few metres.

It'd be interesting to know the coaches instructions for different scenarios.

Yep agree
Disappointing to not deliver
Having said that, was a great game to watch

Exactly - it seems counter productive even though it might be an effort thing and being willing to ‘help out a teammate’ and coming from the right attitude, I really notice it a lot with us that we over commit players to ‘hot spots’ as it were and don’t guard outside players or even space as well as some of the other teams. But like I said maybe I just notice it more because it’s my team that I’m paying attention to
