Geelong's expected score from chances created was 3 goals higher than Hawthorn's for that game:
It wasn't just the blown shots on goals in that game. There were so many easy kicks missed that would have led to shots.

Plus b/s umpiring decisions against us ala pickett non free today. It wasn't just the blown shots on goals in that game. There were so many easy kicks missed that would have led to shots.
I'm 100% sure there wasn't as blatant a non-call against us as the missed tripping free today. Melbourne fans are right to feel aggrieved, I'd be ropeable if it happened to one of our forwards.Plus b/s umpiring decisions against us ala pickett non free today.
Just presenting facts in case you were interested. Geelong blew many chances that match.Whatever.
We choked as Melbourne did today.

Field kicks yes. Geelong had the better chances on goal though. It wasn't just the blown shots on goals in that game. There were so many easy kicks missed that would have led to shots.
Plus being the worst team on the day. It's fine to admit that sometimes.Plus b/s umpiring decisions against us ala pickett non free today.
Nowhere near as many as us imo.Just presenting facts in case you were interested. Geelong blew many chances that match.
Well the stats literally say otherwise.Nowhere near as many as us imo.
We live rent free in your head fine to admit that.Plus being the worst team on the day. It's fine to admit that sometimes.
Are there stats for bullshit goals you got from umpiring decisions?Well the stats literally say otherwise.
Nah, you're in here complaining about a Geelong game Hawthorn "should've" won. Expected scores say otherwise. We live rent free in your head fine to admit that.
Ah, so now that one false narrative has been rubbished, we get an umpiring whinge. Classic. Are there stats for bullshit goals you got from umpiring decisions?
Or goals we were denied ala pickett today.
No i was comparing a game where we blew chances similar to how Melbourne did today.Nah, you're in here complaining about a Geelong game Hawthorn "should've" won. Expected scores say otherwise.
Except you didn't, because Geelong blew more chances that day. Hence the correction. No i was comparing a game where we blew chances similar to how Melbourne did today.
We were outplayed for more than 50% today and still won imo.Ah, so now that one false narrative has been rubbished, we get an umpiring whinge. Classic.
It's really not that hard to admit that you were out played on the day, as Geelong have been 3 times this season.
"Still won in your opinion". Yes, I agree. Bad kicking is bad football. Melbourne kicked badly and lost. It happens. We were outplayed for more than 50% today and still won imo.
I mean, it makes no difference to our season as it's cooked anyway but genuinely felt we were slaughtered by the umps all match. The Jiath one isnt getting enough attention either. Literally jumps into a pack and gets called a push in the back. The reply shows that there was literally no-one around him. Really deflating to constantly be on the rough end of key decisions at key moments of the game. But, we also need to take blame for not icing the game when it was there to be taken. But a really frustrating game. Should've been over at 3/4 time. the misses were simple too. but bad kicking is bad football.Horrendous decision.
I would think any Hawthorn supporter who is being honest would admit we were quite lucky not to be 3-4 goals down at 3/4 time.
Reminded me of our game against Geelong blowing so many chances.
Melbourne have been a bad kicking side since about 2006.I mean, it makes no difference to our season as it's cooked anyway but genuinely felt we were slaughtered by the umps all match. Happily, haven’t looked close to a top 4 team.Ppl tend to remember these calls mate hahaha
Agree.Happily, haven’t looked close to a top 4 team.
Well I’d be surprised if the AFL didn’t investigate why it wasn’t paid. As a fan of the game you’d also hope the AFL would as well.
I'm not sure what the league averages are so I'd need to see the stats.Melbourne have been a bad kicking side since about 2006.
In 2021 the sheer defensive and contested dominance made it inconsequential.
They have been losing games this way so often ever since. Terrible efficiency.
well I mean, the afl will take reponsibility but what does that even mean. It's not going to put the goals back onto our results. So it'll just go down as one of those games where it wasn't an even playing field. It’s the AFL. If you think they are going to take responsibility for anything think again.
Idk why there’s so many people here in a fizz that think hawthorn fans believe that wasn’t a free
Good cos all teams care about now is 4 points no one cares how u get them. It's a long season. Teams run in and out of form. Injuries and suspensions happen. If we get enough of these wins we give ourselves a chance. If not this year we always have the next few. Its a big call.Happily, haven’t looked close to a top 4 team.
