Hard to see what the Dees have done to improve much on 2024 (happy to be corrected if I’ve got that one wrong). So with that in mind it’s hard to go past the Giants despite a couple of key absentees.
Their center bounce set up looks much improved with Trac back and Oliver showing a bit, Langdon inside now to give them some run as well. But I wonder how their forward line will do

Very fair points. But none of them will be good enough to stop Finn Callaghan. He’s like Oliver, Trac and Viney all in one 😎

Will be a battle of the midfield….whoever gets on top will win.
Not sure about either forward line…gws no hogan…cadman needs a big improvement on last week
Dees JVR needs to step up
GWS by 20.

I'm happy that Oliver and Trac have overcome there issues but hopefully we can nullify them this week.Confident our backs and a better all around better defensive effort against Pies also will also make it hard for Dee's to score.Watching how we handle Gawn will be interesting.Cadman,Gru and Brown cant afford to drop as many basic marks this week but there athleticism could be the way to challenge May and Lever etc.We cant do what the pie did to us with Taylor and bomb it in to forward line as May and Lever love that.

going to be hard to tip against GWS this season..and won't start with this round.
Giants by 25

Dees I expect will be full of beans with the cultural regeneration they've worked on during the summer. Expect a tough gruelling game.

One question I have is have they improved their forward line? If they indeed have, that will make a huge difference.

Another question is Giants at the G. Geewizz.

Nope!

I don't have much hope for this one, due to the fact that we struggle against teams who can slingshot and move the ball quickly through the midfield, because 1) our midfield is pretty slow, and 2) we depend a lot on our defensive structure - particularly our KPDs - which is entirely nullified if the opposition can move the ball quickly enough. The weather might be our best friend here, because I think our best bet is to turn the game into a defensive, stoppage-heavy slog, but even that might not help us here because our forward line is top-heavy and devoid of quality smalls, and GWS have beaten us in defensive, stoppage-heavy slogs in recent years anyway (e.g. GWS winning 47-45 in 2023, and 64-55 on the G in 2021). We've also got 6 debutants for this game, which on the one hand I like because it suggests we might be willing to try something a bit different this year, but which I also dislike because it displays a degree of hubris beneath the withering gaze of the football gods whose anger we aren't really entitled to provoke at the moment.

I'd be disappointed if we can't make this one a contest, but I'm less confident in us winning this match than I am about any other match we play this season, with the possible exception of the Lions at the Gabba in round 10. Giants by 30.

someone tell Hogan to hurry up and get back.
watching him last season was one of the biggest highlights

Come on mate. GWS are simply far too sharp. The answer is we have not.

GWS will win this one easily. End of story.

The GWS posters in this forum are being way too I kind. I’m sure deep down they know they’ll pump the Dees.

Only thing I’m worried about is ruck.
Keefe can do his job, or the mids can cover his deficiencies, then we will be ok.
Talls just need to get it to the ground for our smalls to run riot.

Wonder how the surface will be.
Well judging from the first 2 matches, woeful, like a cows paddock.
