this should be a great contest.
power need the solid start to the season, while the pies need to sharply respond to the GWS game.
Collingwood at the G with a crowd turn out - for the win 12p

If you have to ever play Collingwood at the MCG from interstate, this would be the time of year to do it. But I think we are going to get our first of many thrashings this season.

Not this week Pies just feeling another week away from opeing their account in 2025.
Port i think will edge us.
Not confident at this one on the back of the GWS one flat feeling as.
Too many free kicks and goals to port this week.
It would be nice to get a win but not this week.
Need some more players back methinks De goey and alike.
Underdone as.
Not fit yet.
port by 20 points.
pies will be catch up all night long.
umps will award port early frees that leads them to get the jump on the pies and kick the first 3 and q1 time be like port 31 to pies unable to kick a goal 11 like 1 goal 5 points

Haven’t been following Port’s off season all that closely, why the pessimism around them? Genuine question.

Was surprised to see Collingwood so well fancied to win this one after their abysmal round 1 showing.
From the end of last year….
Best/Only big KPF Dixon gone
Marshall injured
Best mid Butters injured, Rozee sore
Best HBF Houston gone
2/3 KPD options BZT and Esava injured

Playing away at the G, smashed us the last few times we’ve played them there
Sat night gonna be hot and humid, Collingwood with a game under their belt, shown to be an advantage

No surprise that Coll are favourites,
Wouldn’t be a major shock if we won though

Appreciate the summary thanks. Makes a lot more sense when you bring it all together like that.

Collingwood by 69

Craig Macrae is yet to lose a game against Port as the Pies coach. Old man Kenny can't keep up with the fresher coaches.

We have a moderately solid record at the MCG in recent times but against the teams with larger crowds we tend to keel over more easily.

And to add salt to the wound I think we are all going to realize just how awful that Dan Houston trade truly was. Easily the worst in Port's entire AFL era and that's coming from a team that has normally done an ok job of not giving away too much elite talent to the extent of the Crows or Freo.
Not to say I don't have faith in any of Luko, Richards or Berry having a good career with us, I'm optimistic for them, but we gave up far too big of a price for them and I suspect that we will bend over to the Pies on the field just as we did during that trade.

forecast of 35 with rain predicted later in the day - should be a pretty shocking game based on the weather, but i'd wager there's going to be a cool change at 7pm~ (i'm not a meteorologist so don't quote me on that) but i personally think it'll go down a nailbiter. Houstan coming in is big, but J Daicos has some question marks, and given the predicted temp, it'll be another toughie for the pies, seeing how they performed in similar, albeit drier conditions.

A 35°c to 17°c change is as Melbourne as Melbourne weather can be. Port by 25.

They rely heavily on clearances from Rozee and Butters, both are in strife, and Houston was in their top 3 best players and so important for their counter attack. The rest though aren't as big of a loss, though, Dixon was overrated, he was always beaten in marking contests, and Ratugolea is a SANFL player somehow playing AFL.

F*ck it. I’ll believe. Our younger, fresher players and take it on style will trouble them. Along with our new look forward line and smalls of Berry, Richards, Rioli etc. It’ll be close until the 4th and we’ll overrun em. Port by 13

The odds are ridiculous

Hot night, Pies didn't look too fit last week, Port coming off a top 4 year, it's no better than 50/50 for us surely

As much as we might debate how good these players are, we are likely missing a third of the team that finished last year.

away from home, odds about right.
