tige's to give a good showing early, but just don't have the cattle to run with it.
hoping for Lynch to finally play again and a debut for Lalor..
carlton by 30-40

Similar thoughts here, hoping the Tiges can keep it competitive for a quarter or two and the new kids can show something. If it’s a 30-40 point result with no injuries I think both sets of fans would leave fairly happy.

Honestly Richmond could have an honourable 70 point loss in this one. If we can stick with the blues for a half of footy and see some nice green shoots from the youngsters and then they blow us out of the water, all good. A 100+ point loss would be grim though.

Wouldn't surprise me if this was at least a somewhat competitive game.

Younger 'weaker' sides tend to start seasons off relatively strongly before running out of gas later in the year...plus there might be a bit of complacency or first round doldrums from Carlton. It was a very close corresponding game last season.

I think this could be one of Richmond's better performances for the year.

I'm wondering where all this young side Richmond vs older Carlton is coming from.

Richmond have Vlastuin, Broad, (should be Balta but for a punch-up so will use Miller) and Short in the backline.

Midfield, Nankevis, Hopper, Taranto, Ross, MacIntosh. (quality not experience the problem here)

Granted the forward line only has Lynch of any real age and quality.

Richmond are playing 3 new players vs Carlton's 2. Big deal, at least Richmonds are basically the no.1 draftee and Armstong and Trainor widely considered the two top forwards and backs in the draft last year.

Richmond might be thin on depth but this rd.1 side is not full of newby's.
