Richards over kicked it which is rare.
Our kicking was a bit off the whole night.
Bevo was tbh badly out coached. When geelongs pressure ramped up and we closed down your handpass chains in tight and leap frogging over the top, you didn’t have an answer or adjustment.

Top sides will continue to beat doggies unless you can adjust when things go wrong and the heat is on

I guess you would say the cats were the better team on the night and won. The dogs won the contest but were not clean enough in goal kicking or disposal. Having said that you do expect a bad go off the umps at the cattery been happening for years but you do not expect the boundary umpire to rob you.

There is the game Dempsey gets a gift kicks a goal from the boundary and Buku and Naughton miss from 5 metres out

Four umps out on the ground and they all missed our Rising Star being clearly held in that very same contest. Thankfully the boundary ump was in a perfect position to call the mark just in play and spare their blushes. 😍

Oh we can’t talk about this.. doesn’t suit the sulks narrative.

Grow some balls doggie fans. You lost again to a top side… you can bully crap sides all you want, but you guys constantly choke against the best.

Suck it up and deal with it

Lol sulk. Stop blaming umps, you lost to a better side. Even 8 mins to go and we kicked away.

oh… Dempsey had his jumper held in that same contest. Are you outraged by the umpires missing it??

I get that Bevo has an issue with Cornes, a few do. But he's also had issues with Barrett, Robinson and Caro. Maybe the issue is strongly opinionated journos willing to ruffle feathers.

But to blow up over Cornes saying a variation of hello is a bit ill tempered. You can still be civil.

Of course we were. At no point in 120 minutes of football were the Bulldogs in the lead.

It won’t.

But I’m not sure we could dispose of the ball worse than we did in the second quarter, and that’s the game.

For whatever reason Bevo can’t coach a four quarter game against Scott. It’s infuriating, but might end up being vital in September.

I’m not generally an umpires guy, but Geelong got a massive leg up tonight. But even then it shouldn’t have mattered - dogs kicked several posters and turned the ball over at will, so should’ve won anyway.

I love this common refrain from supporters of a losing team.

Is the assumption here that Geelong played the perfect game, made no mistakes, and couldn't possibly play any better?

And I'm still waiting for the definitive evidence that any of these so called poor decisions were wrong?

Or there were howlers the Doggies didn't get.

Cos I can sure show you that Libba throws more than juggler in a ballroom.

If that’s when he dropped that mark (which was actually quite a difficult one if it’s the one I’m thinking of as it was too high and he only finger tipped it) how was it dropping the game? Five minutes to go and a goal would make scores level?
Probably because the cats went on a rebound that lead to a goal that made it 100x harder for the dogs to win after it?

Well said, and congratulations for not moaning about the umpiring or anything. This sums it up nicely.

As Hoyne from Champion Data said this week, the team that uses the ball better (including field/goal kicking) wins 80% of games this season. A comfortably higher number than the team that wins more of the ball (disposals, contested possessions, clearances). This has been the profile of the last few premiers as well.

The Dogs need to be the better ball using team against the top sides if they truly want to contend. It's all well and good to do it against Essendon and Port, but in the high pressure finals-like games you need to stand up when you get your opportunities.

The sulks narrative is that the umpiring has been good awful this year which turns games into sometimes extremely frustrating watches for neutrals who want to see footy but are treated to umpire electric boogaloo.

Showing us a photo where the umpires made two terrible calls hasn’t really changed much.

Dempsey was held - missed call
Ball was out of bounds on the full - missed call

For a neutral who thinks the umpiring was awful last night how does showing me two mistakes change my mind …

BigUmpiring would always rather shriek at officiating than comment on the football being played. Especially if it "wrongs" their impeccable club, tip or bet. Throw in a team they despise benefiting and it is enough to evoke uncontrollable rage that hopefully isn't released in their everyday lives.

They got the Dempsey mark wrong. The rest was ok. Were the umps taking the shots on goal you missed?
They got a few things wrong, but the Dempsey mark is not clear. The point Dempsey got both hands to the ball is when they usually deemed it's controlled.
Using the behind post as a guide for vertical. It's still not 100% clear but the benefit of the doubt tends to go to the guy marking it.

Remember the whole ball has to be over the whole line

And you’re lucky the boundary line is a flexible concept at alphabet stadium

The whole footy world saw us get shafted last night. Sit back down chief

Maybe don't kick 17 behinds? Usually a good sign a team was pressured into making errors.
Same thing happened with us two games ago against GWS

Good on you won the battle fair enough but will you win the war. Maybe but if you say you certain to beat us if we meet in a final on the G you are kidding yourself. That game could go either way.

Ed Richards directly kicked a goal holding onto Baz that turned the momentum.
See, i can cherry pick too.

Don't kick 17 behinds and expect to win...not that hard a concept.
Bad kicking is bad footy

Demspey's goal wasn't the difference in score funny that.

If there's one bit of silver lining to our losses this year, is that they've been close entertaining games.

It's amazing watching Geelong and seeing how well coached they are. Their ground positioning is exceptional, especially off ball. They make teams play high risk football and most teams struggle to pull that game style off.
One day that might even play for the full 4 quarters.

You were clearly barracking for the dogs in the game thread and your angst with the umpires is because geelong won. Your “issues” are not also looking at the bad decisions that went the dogs way like the blatant Libba throws ignored or the howler htb decisions not paid.

Umpires didn’t decide anything, the better team won. Stop sulking

I would back us to beat you at the MCG or marvel because against similar tactical bulldogs sides we generally have in the past and I don’t see your side too diffident this year. You thump bottom sides but struggle against quality ones. Losses to GC, Brisbane, coll and now geelong is proof of this.
