Whenever Geelong wins its "umpires for x team were putrid".

If I'm a dogs supporter I'd be filthy at 17 behinds.

They had plenty of chances to win it and couldn't.
I agree, but you've conveniently skipped over the impact of the umpiring. Which is totally independent of the goal kicking inaccuracy. You shouldn't be so biased that you can't objectively analyse the game.

I can only surmise they're sick of seeing us do well year after year.

The vitriol towards Geelong is at an all time high this year :D
The entire vibe of BigFooty.com suffers a serious downward spike for a few days following a gutsy Geelong win. The last time 'neutrals' were this downtrodden was when Bobby Hill wasn't awarded a free kick for tackling Shaun Mannagh around the ankles, followed by Crisp missing a shot after the siren. This one is going to take some getting over too I sense.

Yeah anyhow bit disappointing the carry on. It was a really good game between two potential contenders and it warrants better discussion, that is for sure. But game day threads often devolve a bit.

I've heard say the Dogs play better without Darcy (wtf?) and gotta admit our F50 has looked a bit better without Dangerfield. Interesting if we meet again with those (and more) players back how it changes things up.

Well one directly corresponds to 6 points, wheras free kicks might not.

Where were all of these frees and how many direct scores did they impact?

Did the dogs get any frees that gave them goals?

I'll wait for a full analysis.

Maybe the Bulldogs shouldn't give away so many free kicks then?

huh? half of them weren't even there. And many free's that Geelong gave away that weren't paid. Like that's the actual point.
Any objective anaylsis showing which 13 Geelong free kicks weren't there?

38 free kicks were paid for the match ( and there were likely another 20 that could've been paid, or would at least need to be assessed).

I eagerly wait your objective analysis of these 60 odd incidents, then you can display what the free kick numbers should have been.

After that, we can try and calculate how many scores this affected.

figure of speech :) many weren't there, in my humble, unbiased opinion. And not every free kick is the worth the same. Like the Jeremy Cameron chopping off the arms was beyond soft and cost a goal. The English holding the ball not paid. Like the howler decisions are worth more than the 50/50's.

Mr Meow, are you saying that you're staggered that the wider footy public as well as the commentators mentioned that the Geelong got an unfair advantage from the umps?

You said we weren't providing objective analysis. It seems self explanatory that the Dogs missing gettable shots contributed to their loss. Munich therefore provided something objective.

So now we're waiting on something objective by yourself regarding the 60 odd umpiring decisions/non decisions.

People crying about any game Geelong win the free kick count (and staying silent when they lose it) is not objective analysis.

Mate, honestly? Geelong were heavily favoured.
Take the win and leave it at that.

I love how this thread is one bulldogs comment and then about 45 Geelong fans in a row all trying to prove how great they think they are.
There's about 5 pages of Geelong fans misunderstanding how and why both home ground advantages and fixturing advantages work.

Here's a clue Geelong fans: you're the only Victorian team to have a true home ground advantage against other Victorian teams, and a lack of a Victorian vs Victorian Docklands/MCG away disadvantage. And that fixturing advantage is to assume the season is a 34-game fair home and away draw, and then analyse which of the 12/11 games are taken not played in a season, and which of the remaining 23 games are played outside of the main home stadium.

When combined, this analysis correctly determines that the Dogs are screwed over compared to the wider league with how often they play away at Kardinia.

There's about 20 pages of Bulldogs supporters, and the odd anti-Geelong neutral, crying about how umpiring or fixturing rather than their inferior skills cost them the game.

Bitter, small club mentality. Nail your passes, execute in front of goal against strong teams under pressure and you might finish top 4 for the first time under Bevo.

It's easy to do it under a roof against Essendon. Time to level up.

whatever.... pretty sure you would think dogs getting a 26-12 umpire ride would still give the cats a 14p win. which is silly. dogs were victims of unusual circumstances and bevo was not outcoached
Yeah.. it is pretty bizzare that a team who applies large amounts of pressure gets holding the ball frees paid. If the umpires where as dumb as your suggestions they would have all come together and said

“ listen, geelong have more frees.. so no matter what happens the next qtr, even it out ok?? We want everyone to feel inclusive out here”.

What was bizarre was the lack of incorrect tackle and marking interference free kicks paid to the Bulldogs which one might reasonably expect against a team playing in such a high-pressure manner.

The holding the ball free kick against Bailey Dale whilst he was being tackled around the head, just one obvious example where selective leniency was applied in Geelong's direction.

Geelong got the rub of the green in so many ways it was obvious to even neutral supporters.

Winners are grinners, enjoy your victory. We will lick our wounds and hope to play better next time.

We will also hope the umpires do a better job next time as well.
