hated- geelong's run home, can the AFL make it anymore comfortable for them.
You do realise Cats get 10 home games. If those games are stacked in the second half that of course means we have few home games in the first half.

Bossman calling Gold Coast Charity Franchise "nepo-babies" was fantastic stuff.

Dimma cracking the shits after and saying "I've been at Richmond, we don't get much up here" LMAO get off the "medical" marijuana, everyone can tell your club is being kissed on the you-know-where.

Liked- dream time at the G being on the stand alone Friday.
*events are coming to ahead with the Blues

learnt- *starting to come together for Freo.
*Suns gaining more and more confidence on the road, along with wins.

Yeah that’s a good point. We’ve just played a whole bunch of top 8 sides in a row so what we should have to do now, is play a whole bunch of top 8 sides.

If we were playing stronger teams in the lead up to the finals, the Tiger ‘mafia’ (I use the term loosely because if they were an actual gang they’d look more like this: 1748234208916.jpeg

would be tearing their hair out that the Cats are going to be more battle hardened than every other side in the comp.

Besides, you should be happy. The only teams we’ve lost to aside from Brisbane are ranked 8, 12 and 14.

That soft run home might be your best chance to live vicariously through some other sides this season, watching us drop games we should win.

You can always write a letter telling the AFL Geelong should only play teams above them on the ladder.

Don’t stress we’ve had an “easy” draw too apparently even though it was judged the hardest first 10 games by most analysts. Carlton after making the 8 manage to get West Coast and North twice before we get to play West Coast at all. Amazingly soft draw we get. 🤦🏼‍♂️

You’ve got a lot to be concerned about at Collingwood. Being at the top of the ladder and all, generally winning matches and having been somewhere in the mix for most of this century. Cause for worry 😂

always hilarious when Vic clubs and supporters complain about how hard their draw is

I haven’t read anyone complaining. Oh. Aside from that Richmond twat complaining about how easy ours was.

The draw is what it is.

We got a hard run for a while, now we get an easy one. Who gives a shit. If you’re a good team, you’ll win the games you need to and make the finals.

West Coast have the hardest draw.
It is hard to believe their backers never once considered where the team would be based when they harassed the VFL/AFL for decades to give them a license.
Thankfully the AFL are already deep in planning to move Perth to a small coastal area near Rosebud.
If only they got to play a few teams below them on the ladder.

Liked: After 35 years the Anfield faithful getting to see a Trophy lift also Liverpool giving Crystal Palace a guard of honour..top notch.

Learnt: (Always knew) our midfield and Forward line was always going to be a issue this season.

Hated: playing injured players never works.
Blind Freddy can see Sicily isn't 100%... don't frigging play him.

Footnote....I'd have Toby in a hawks jumper anyday 👌

Fantastic wrap-up—insightful, witty, and spot on with the week’s big moments. 👍🏼
I thought Jezza’s form and Neale’s impact for the Cats were definite highlights. Toby’s milestone was pure theatre, while Collingwood’s depth and Dimma’s influence on the Suns stood out as signs of genuine finals contenders.

Liked: Season set up for us now. Won the hard games against Pies and Dogs and now are at 7-4 with 6 games vs Ess, Rich, WCE and NM to come. Only 3 games vs current top 8 to go (two in Geelong). Top 4 well in sight now.

That's right. St.Kilda become the first to hit loss number 1500 in league football.
Next closest are fellow VFL foundation clubs Syd/Sth (1358) and Melb (1311).

Hated:

Spent most of my life in winter talking footy with dad. Found out over the weekend he's never coming home and has at most weeks, but as little as days to go. Barely watched much footy yesterday or today as a result and not being able to share that passion anymore is going to hit hard.

So sorry to hear that, Art.

Happened to me in 2022. The GF was dad's last game (bitter sweet as he wasn't in the right condition to enjoy it) and the first game of 2023 had me in tears all way through. Just because I couldn't text him.

Hope the end comes gently. And most of all, I hope that for you, as for me, the pain fades and you remember how lucky you were to have that special relationship - a lot of people don't.

To (hopefully) inject something light-hearted into the ‘parents we’ve lost’ discussion… the 2012 Grand Final was the last game I ever got to watch with my Mum, who we lost suddenly to an unexpected brain injury a few weeks after.

The two of us sat in our living room that afternoon, dining out on all manner of grand final day snacks, and watched on in pleasant surprise as the Swans downed a much more fancied Hawks side.

Most Swans supporters have viewed each Grand Final appearance since that day with absolute horror as we’ve continually flopped on the big stage, but I tend to have a chuckle to myself as I imagine her sitting somewhere pulling the strings and playing an evil joke… “still not ready for us to win another flag without you here hey Mum??” 😂

Liked:
(i) A little outbreak of 1980s footy on Thursday night.
(ii) Watching Zac Bailey in person as a neutral on Saturday. Talk about underrated.

Learnt:
(1) The same old posters on the same old topics say the same old things.
(2) Matt Kennedy was squandered by Carlton in so many, many ways.

Hated:
Coaches using obscure language to make criticisms:
i) Either Chris Scott knows something about the ARC or he doesn't. Say it.
ii) Ross Lyon should not be using American millenial-speak from 2020. Nepo-baby does not mean what he thinks it means; just bloody well say what you mean.

Honorable mention:
If there is ever a team of Non-All Australians, Mitch Duncan can be vice captain. Why? Because he'd be overlooked in discussions about captaincy. Guy can't even have a 300th game where the focus is on him.

The Melbourne Demons are sending teams straight to Hades. They’ve still got hot shots on this roster, young and old, and let me tell you nobody’s burning up the field like the fella they call Kossie. He’s so hot, I’d trademark him if I could…right after I finish this cigar.

Learned

Brisbane sure knows how to turn on the charm - like a tap without leaks. Collingwood’s depth and consistency? They’re deeper than my last three marriages and twice as dependable. And it turns out the Gold Coast, my dear, is not just a playground for party animals looking for a condo; they can play some serious ball - Nepo Schleppo! As for Geelong? They’re like that annoying reliable friend who always shows up - can’t get rid of ‘em! But seriously, who am I fooling? I knew all this already.

What I really picked up is that Hawthorn’s trying to get their act together like a juggler with one too many chainsaws. Right now the defence is more top heavy than the Empire State Building and the midfield’s as crooked as Al Capone’s bookkeeper. But don’t worry Sammy. Like any good date, I’m fickle - I’ve got principles and if you don’t like them, I’ve got a whole buffet more to choose from. Which means if they pull a rabbit out of the hat against Collingwood all will be forgiven.

Hated

James Sicily’s injury. When life hands you groin pains, just remember to keep your chin up and your pants on…if you’ve got any left.

Ah, the MRO - it’s as consistent as my Aunt Edna’s soufflé. Our buddy Jai Newcombe does a little tango with a fella with enough force to almost send him to the Yarra in concrete boots…and he gets a fine. Meanwhile Alex Pearce stumbles like a two-left footed dancer into some poor schmuck with a perm, and gets sent to the Chair, not the one with cushions, mind you. Now, I get it, we’re all about protecting the head but remember, folks, accidents happen…after all when you trip over your own shoelaces that’s not clumsy, it’s performance art.
