I remember someone from the AFL quoting that the higher rate cameras cost about 80-100k per match for each camera to be fed on the broadcast. No idea if thats true but if it was the cost would be astronomical for a fairly underfunded league.

Thats why we generally only get the top shelf cameras for finals from what I understand, but they're not set up for the score review system.

Maybe the Dogs need to start stopping the ducking into tackles to draw free kicks. Don't really care about Carlton one way or the other but the umpiring in the latter part of the game was disgusting. They were reamed, and not the first time in a Dogs game.

It evened out numbers wise but many of Carlton’s dubious frees resulted in goals, ours not so much. Was it Motlop who chose to dive into the tackle and was rewarded? If dogs do it it’s nothing like as blatant as that was.

They're not known as the free kick kings for nothing. Every goal from about half way through the third quarter until the end was either directly or indirectly from a dubious free kick.

If they had the higher frame rate cameras like you say they would literally take 5 to 10 seconds to make the decision.

I didn't say they had higher frame rate. But they could have higher bitrate as the untouched source feed would be a higher bitrate.

Not sure who is in charge of the list for the baggers. But looking at Footy Wire I see 34 players with expiring contracts in the next 2 years. 17 in 2025 and 17 in 2026. That’s an awfully high number to juggle this year and next and still try to remain competitive.

Would be interested to hear from a Blues Supporter (not currently suffering from PTSD ) who are the top 5 from that group they must retain at all costs, and who are the bottom 10 (or more) they can show the door?

I didn't think the umps had any real impact on tonight. A couple crap calls either way and a few missed ones.

Blues ran out of legs again which ultimately was their downfall, barely noticed the umps for most of the night.

Of course he was over the mark. His momentum carried him, the ump didn’t call him back, nothing to see. It also had 5/8ths of **** all impact on the game.
Motlop gifted goal was eventually offset by LDVs, maybe it’s the new normal to have no prior opportunity, who knows with this mob.
Doesn’t matter, the umpiring was rubbish, doesn’t matter. You guys are in for a crappy season at this rate.

His momentum carried him? Oh deary ****ing lord... There was zero momentum in that. Was one of the most egregious infringements you'll see. No harm in admitting it. Changes nothing.
Umps don't need to call back for a 50. Get that out of your head right this second. Been proven plenty of times, so holds no substance.
Never said it had impact on the game, or changed the result. Was simply an example of a terrible call.
I called out Motlop's free. I hate that.
