Okay let me rephrase: Scott told the players they were allowed to have a crack today.

The thing is, this Geelong squad are prone to horror quarters or halves of footy. Brisbane are right in this and could easily erase this lead in 15 minutes. But at least we've got a game.

On the basis of last year, it's pretty evident the Cats are much better in the weather. Which is still disappointing for us, it's a wet weather game.

We literally have a team with only 3 players over 30, and 17 that are 26 and under. Not the same side as last year. We're just transitioning so well tonight. Smith really helps + Holmes who we lost in the Prelim halfway through. Those two change our game.

This reminds me of the match from last year (last year's thread makes for an interesting read with some bold definitive stamens made). Geelong seem to adapt to these conditions a lot better than we do.

I guess that's a symptom of a low scoring wet weather game.

See I feel the opposite, where only some stray goal kicking has stopped Brisbane already getting it back to a kick this quarter. If Geelong don't respond soon, it's only a matter of time.

Yeah but you were trying to convince me this lead felt massive and would be so hard to peg back! That quarter was circle work and Brisbane could've gone 3 goals up if clinical.

Anyway, we'll see if Geelong are on the plane already or not for the final term.

Credit to the Lions for capitalising, what an absolute shambles of a quarter from the Cats. In terms of the contest I think it was still pretty even, but we just shot ourselves in the foot time and again with stupid frees (did I hear 11 for the quarter?) and horrific skill errors every time we looked like pressing forward.

Makes it 35-93 in third quarters so far in our three games by my count. Let's see if they respond... if they don't, this could get ugly.

As of now Brisbane's best is also just better. Since turning over a good chunk of the team from the 2022 grand final (while other remaining veterans are no longer superstars), this Cats side simply can't produce 4 quarter efforts against decent teams. Those 5 or 6 goal runs are common.
