Ashcroft 150 meters gained 30 disposals. Next lowest of people above 20 disposals Miers 22 possesions 395 meters.
Ashcroft had the equal most score involvements in the game and 2nd most contested possessions. He had a good game in the end. His job isn't to be gaining 40m a possession.

I am a big fan, him and his brother will be top liners of the competition for many years. BOG I would have Mcluggage for his 3rd qtr ahead of him, Andrews, Lester and Zorko I would give votes to as well before him for today. Good win by your team , very well coached and great work by the players to adjust the game style to what was needed.

Yeah and he wont ever be playing for your retirement home. No matter how many cows you promise him.

Love how salty the Doggies supporters are going to be about this for the next 8 years. A microscope over every misplaced disposal, then foaming up in self pleasure.

A few of them were like that with Dunks, one Dogs supporter was gloating on our board when we lost the '23 Gf.

I can't think of many that weren't there. Just a sloppy and undisciplined, nightmare quarter from the Cats. Completely self-inflicted.

If I'd been offered that final score at the start of the game, I would have thought, a win would have been nice, but at least they had a good crack. But to throw it away with such an unacceptable third quarter makes it a bit harder to swallow.

I was waiting for some Jeremy Cameron magic to get us over the line, instead he seemed to just amble around at 75% for most of the night, including what looked like a terrible (non) effort where we could have created a marking contest which directly led to one of Brisbane's sealing goals (I think Zorko's from memory). Instead he left Scratcher Neale to do all the hard stuff when he should have been making the Lions pay.

Positives I thought were that most of our lesser lights showed genuinely good signs and overall it was a great effort. Even in the third quarter, I don't think you could fault the effort; it was horrifically unpolished and undisciplined, but they were still working hard.
Ryan "Froggy" Lester showed why he's clearly the most underrated player in the AFL his job on Cameron was fantastic

Chris Scott speaking in the after game presser.

Rolling out the old "A few things went against us", just like last week which he won't elaborate on but it's never Geelong's fault.

He literally talked up St Kilda last week. In fact he made a glowing review of how they played and this is what you come up with?

Jesus rent free dude

Oh Geelong….you had it all your own way, played your A++++ game and it wasn’t enough. If you can’t beat us in March you won’t beat us in September.

Don’t get cocky, long season.
And history is against reigning Premiers.

Reckon Brisbane just haven’t run into the actual top contenders yet eg Hawks, GWS, Pies

Lions not playing their best but still winning
8 goals to 2 after half-time
Wash was BOG for mine showed why he is the new Normie
Interesting that Kniffet was SUB

Cats played good footy early in the wet conditions, were clearly on top in most categories.
Once it dried up, Lions used slick ball movement to establish dominance and Cats got sloppy.

Similar to last year.
Cats dominated in the super wet conditions, Lions adapted better once it was dry.

It’s just weird man, who cares once they leave your club?
Can’t imagine spending that much time worrying about oppo players.

People need to go touch grass

This is the issue with following the numbers too closely. If he had of dump kicked it forward at every opportunity like Baz, is that better?

In a wet game he stayed composed in the middle, good hands up close and got the ball out. He was amazing.

11 kicks and 22 handballs would do that. Apart from a few hospital handballs, he was generally good at getting the ball to teammates in better positions.

Smith had 25 disposals for 546m gained but went at 28% disposal efficiency and 7 turnovers (remembering that a kick >40m to a 50/50 is still considered effective). Was one of the main ones that kept feeding Payne and Andrews intercept marks.

Not that I'm excusing a poor night with ball in hand by Smith (and some others), but our marking targets up forward presented and contested to a disgracefully poor level. Cameron, Neale and Henry were given absolute baths. Overall Brisbane have the perfect defence to neutralise our forwards for large periods.

Yep definitely an outstanding job by Lester. A few moments from Cameron though where he just didn't look committed enough at a contest. It was a night where we needed our veterans to stand up and you certainly couldn't argue with Dangerfield's clusterbomb attack at multiple contests.

Of course that's not how Cameron plays and fair enough even the great players lower their colours now and again, but to me it seemed like he had a few opportunities to turn the game and just didn't seize them.

I thought the trick of naming Stewart then the late change was clever.

We’ve never seen them pull that trick.
