Tough conditions but a enjoyable thur nite game.
Blues being 0-4 is a great way to sleep with a smile.
Carlton will lay down to everyone but some how rise up and beat the dockers.

It's a shame Carlton won't face Freo until round..... 21 lol

Came to Melb for Lions game and thought I get to this one for the experience of two big rival clubs and 90k at the MCG. Wasn’t worth it, Carlton were terrible after half time and the game had no atmosphere

Yet we still cruised home. :D
Great Job Reaction GIF

Geelong were hardly that fantastic last year especially in the middle.

Honeymoon period over for the Blues

Finished 10 points off the Premiers in a supposed rebuilding year.
Geez people are harsh on us lol

Pies will be there abouts, they’ve gone all in. Copying Cats model from 2020-2022

Blues…pretty simple.
Paying 6 guys superstar wages leaving nothing left for the rest of the list.
You can’t be a consistently good side year in and year out without good role players who can turn up and have big days every so often.

I assumed blues model was similar to Richmonds 2017-2020 model.

4 elite players of 2 mids (Martin and Cotchin) one elite defender (Rance) and one forward (Riewoldt). With solid b or C grade rotation or role players and trade in one or 2 players that have won finals (nankervis)

Carlton. Have a similar 4 elite players 2 mids (Cripps and Walsh) 1 defender (Weitering) and one forward (Curnow or McKay).

With solid b or C grade rotation players. Trade in blokes that have won finals (Blake Acres)

The difference is that Ruchmond's Be graders as you call them were pretty good
Vlastuin , Lynch , Edwards , Lambert , Houli , Astbury , Broad , Short , Rioli , Bolton , Nankervis etc

But the main difference was the game style which was proven to be successful in finals
Pressure Pressure Pressure

Carlton dont play a pressure attacking game and the coach is not very good

Richmond was filled with role players that played a style of footy that demanded constant pressure, get it forward at all costs by scrub kicks, knock ons, taps etc.
They played physical, they were hungry and they played their role.

The great role players at Richmond included guys like Houli, Grigg, Broad, Grimes, Ellis, Edwards, Short etc

Never your best player but they gave 110% everytime they went out there and they knew their role.

Carlton’s role players do not have the buy in needed to be at that level.
It’s not the superstars who make up your list and take you far, it’s your role players.
When your stars are down, who stands up?

Almost said word for word what I said.
