Richmond's fitness, gameplan, defensive group and role players were to a much higher level than this Carlton group. They could really swarm and stifle opposition, plus they moved the ball forward in that chaos way that everyone was on board with.I assumed blues model was similar to Richmonds 2017-2020 model.
4 elite players of 2 mids (Martin and Cotchin) one elite defender (Rance) and one forward (Riewoldt). With solid b or C grade rotation or role players and trade in one or 2 players that have won finals (nankervis)
Carlton. Have a similar 4 elite players 2 mids (Cripps and Walsh) 1 defender (Weitering) and one forward (Curnow or McKay).
With solid b or C grade rotation players. Trade in blokes that have won finals (Blake Acres)
The Blues don't have that kind of tactical edge and look unfit, don't really pressure opposition well for 4 quarters and aren't good at generating slingshot counter attacks. They also don't have a rock solid, elite defensive group that acts as a wall until opposition are exhausted.
