Last night yes, but generally no.No inclusions would have over come the tactical superiority of Coll - Swans had no way of countering Coll set up even with 7 inclusions.
Swan are one dimensional.
Would be in current form.
Well he's in better form than some of their tall forwards. Not sure who he’d push out.

MohelDon't you have to be a surgeon for that?
Sydney aren't one dimensional, they are just too reliant on certain players. Sydney's greatest strength is also their greatest weakness. A lot of their top 15 players are role players. When the stars are firing those role players can play their role and nothing more. The outs didn't cost Sydney the game, Collingwood acknowledging that some of those players are having to play roles they're not good enough to play and capitalising on that won them the game.Last night yes, but generally no.
Not being able to see it on the telly, it's clear that the Pies set up zone behind the ball and forced the swans to chip around possession and either kick it down the line or invited pressure and the pies forced turnover.
Effectively we denied them corridor transition that make them so dangerous.
For the neutrals on here, this sort of game plan (set up, close space, pressure to turnover, then transition / chaos ball) is not a flick swith situation, Fly and FD have been training and honing this since Fly landed.
Not many teams will be able to do this to Sydney.
For starters, this is a fantastic analysis post.Sydney aren't one dimensional, they are just too reliant on certain players.
Pendles is probably not a good comparison, because that is so high bar it's not funny.the younger players don't have the spatial awareness and footy smarts of say a Scott Pendlebury to make up for it.
Absolutely, due to how they set up without / behind the ball, forcing the swans to chip possession and or kick down the line.Collingwood's refusal to let Sydney lock the ball down are have that release option was excellent.
As I said, Fly and co have been honing this game style since Fly got there.Collingwood won through ruthlessly efficient planning and their players executing that plan to perfection.
Spot on! We're happy to force the game boundary side, this was obviously the plan against this team, coz they're so damaging in transition through the corridor. It was tactically fascinating. We were setting up the man on the mark amost oblique to the kicker to deny the inboard kick, stuff like that was apparent even to a layman like me, the the pressure from upfield structures was apparent in cramped looking play.
Sydney not to much to worry about. Heeney was BOG, they were 5 goals off the pace with the early injury in game.
One of the players mentioned after the game it's a narrower ground than the G, great we adapt to different grounds so well. Only the tiny ones worry us.
Naicos? he changed his name??… Shut him down too.. in the end its basically the same Collingwood … how can you let a player like Steele Sidebottom who should be retired (?) …. perform so well. Oh Collingwood are now one of the best contest teams …so dont try to man up on him hes too old to play so well… whats he eating for breakfast?? Feed it to SydneyThis is not an effort problem, ask any footy analyst and they'll tell you the Pies are one the best contest teams in it.
This team has been training this for some time now, the speed of the game in the phone box has gone up another level over the last 3 years.
Watch the game again, and then if you're still convinced the Pies threw instead of hanball in close, then go to spec savers.
Yeah sure, tag em both, let naicos off the chain. See what happens then.
You can't just 'shut em down' on a wish.

Oh more explanation needed? …Listen up Stone Cold… its been said by ….the esteemed Carringbush2010 …you cant just shut down one player …e.g. ..Sidebottom … ummmmm yes you can … ..you man up and dont give some 30+ player free reign… maybe after yesterdays Anzac Day match he might get a bit more attention
