The Giants aren't moving anywhere.

Canberra gets good crowds because we love AFL, not the Giants. We got similar crowds hosting North, the Dees and Bulldogs before them.

Give us a new team and all the exciting lead up that Tassie are currently getting.
I get the feeling that NRL is the more dominant code?

It's probably actually remarkably close to 50/50. NRL just gets more coverage because they actually have a team here.

My workplaces have tended to have more AFL fans. Probably at a ratio of 2:1 or even 3:1. There's also a big crossover. Most NRL fans I personally know also have an AFL team.

But I don't think either code can claim it. Canberra is just a multi-code city.

Hard to know where to rate him. Flag coach, got them on top in another grand final and they lost to a side who on paper had every right to beat them.

Generally been in or around the mix but also have underwhelmed at times. He’s broken even.

As a bloke I like him I think he’s a genuinely decent guy, cares about his players, he’s in a helpless situation with one obvious figure at his club and can’t do a thing about it no matter how much he wants to. His players and the club obviously like him or they would have moved on by now given how much they have sort of trodden water since 2016 without going forward or backward. Hes ok.

No doubt has kept his job because the players like him.

The media gave the impression he had lost the support of the players but they were wrong.

I'm unconvinced. Over reliance on the orange tsunami and it's been figured out and doesn't work with any wind/rain/dew.

Good luck playing fourth quarter if we have a style that works..

Can someone tell me in legitimate terms if the orange tsunami even would exist if not for the colour factor?

Team runs forward when they get possesion

Huge if true

Winning flags is tough. Especially at certain clubs with less advantages. Beverage has always been a mad genius, a dangerous chemist, innovative, unconventional. The 2016 flag was one of the great coaching successes. For a half of footy in 2021 they were well in it. Ask Ross the Boss or the dozens of other coaches who didn't quite get there what they think of Bevo.

Dogs are coming again, with long and short term outs, he's marshalling his forces expertly. From q1 in this game I knew that Kingo was getting outcoached, Dogs were structured up and holding it in their forward half. Their ball movement by hand has been their strength for a decade, and now the foot skills are also excellent. Coaching adjustments happen so quickly now that a solid game plan last year won't be up to it in this one.

So often people look at the Dogs list and think Bevo has underachieved.

Then games like this happen and I think he's an absolute gun coach who gets the most out of his whole list.

Ed Richards has developed brilliantly.

The likes of Khamis, Sanders, Davidson & Freijah are playing important roles.

He's getting the absolute maximum return on recycled options in Lobb, Bramble, Harmes & Kennedy.

They just kicked 113 points against one of the best back lines in the comp and they did it without JUH, Weightman or Darcy.

People will point to the elite talents of Bont & Libba but the reality is Bevo has got this whole list (JUH aside) absolutely humming.

“The bulldogs are flush with talent and underachieving” has largely been a kornes cope to try to deflect attention from Kenny over the journey.

Vandermeer, McNeil, Khamis, bramble, O’Donnell, harmes, Dolan (this year) play regularly for them and they range from young and shaky to utter spudness. Yet somehow they bob up every now and then and play well. Even a cooked johannisen is playing a role.

Just because they have a generational talent in Bont doesn’t mean they are the best list on paper.

It'll be May and we've played two home games in Sydney

Western Sydney was always going to be a tough battle, they just made it worse by wanting to do Canberra..
It's a real dilution of the vision for the west of Sydney, remember all the sales pitch all those years ago, and a confused strategy. Money corrupts, men are fickle, leadership is rare.

Doggies have everything u could ask for for a tilt at the flag. Best player in the comp in the Bont, a deep midfield around him, versatility in Freijah, Kennedy, Richards, Treloar and Williams. Star KPF with handy second stringer in Naughton. Elite HBF, decent KPDs and some handy role players to apply pressure.

Really the only thing they're missing is Weightman who should hopefully be back after the bye.

Our defence is still looking a little leaky but Cleary is doing well as a small and Lobb was in excellent form as a CHB. Duryea and Jones looking very old out there has hurt so hopefully they can find some form in the VFL.
