Still the weirdest shit ever, win a game of footy and you go in to the rooms and celebrate by singing a song. I can't think of any other pro sports league that does the same thing

Most sports do actually, NRL might not but most sports worldwide have a song.

I went back and checked again, I got 28 seconds from the point McKay let go of him and he was able to walk back to his mark, but the umps were also blowing their whistles and directing players to stay out of the area, so they often don't count that as part of your time because they would then call you back to take your kick again if you DID kick.

All in all, you love to see the umpires finding new ways to insert themselves into a close game of football at the most decisive moments.
The rule is 30 seconds from the time they're awarded the mark/free kick. That's when the shot clock on the scoreboard starts. The time that McKay let go of him is not relevant.

Ridley going down sucks.

Fans have been calling for Jones and Gresham to be dropped for awhile although you never want them being injured.
Yes you hate to see it, very ugly, wish him a speedy recovery.

Unfortunately I think Bombers will be bottom 4 this year. Maybe next year they will improve. But if they can finish with10 wins this season should consider that a win.

Why umpires have to baby players I’ll never know. You have 30 seconds how hard is it to know?
That therein lies the problem. It's the lack of consistency that people hate. Plenty of times in that situation, the umpire warns the player.

Just don't baby the players EVER!

Yep it was annoying. Wouldve been a great finish.

It is though, because at the end of the day a player holding him and restricting him from going back and taking his kick doesn't count as part of his 30 second time to take the shot typically. Otherwise the umps would have to start paying 50m penalties the minute a player is held onto after the whistle, so it's a bit of common sense, unless we want the game even further over officiated.

He took the kick 40 seconds after he marked it.
Nah watch the replay on kayo he marked it ....ump blew whistle a few sw
I went and re-watched it, it was about 31 seconds that they called play on, so the right call.
31 secs from the mark but 27 secs when ump blew whistle for paid mark anyhow umps have given more time for players pickin' their nose or jocks from their aarse n mouth guard in socks than that 🤣

Great win against the odds. All the injured players and the umpires against Essendon. How did North lose that?

I’m not sure about anyone else, but I’m petrified of an Essendon team that beat North by less than a goal when North put up one of the least composed/professional performances I’ve ever seen.

And I’m a bulldogs supporter so I’ve seen plenty of chaotic, unprofessional performances.

I agree but the clock is on the screen the bloke wasn’t even close he was still walking back exactly how long do you need? Would have been almost quicker to take a dump than whatever he did after marking the thing. Get back quick and you have 15 seconds to steady yourself, done and that’s in the time allowed.
