
It's not relevant. The umpires are going off a shot clock. They're not counting exactly 30 seconds in their head.It is though, because at the end of the day a player holding him and restricting him from going back and taking his kick doesn't count as part of his 30 second time to take the shot typically. Otherwise the umps would have to start paying 50m penalties the minute a player is held onto after the whistle, so it's a bit of common sense, unless we want the game even further over officiated.
McKay might have held him up by half a second in putting his arm slightly around him as he was walking back, and the person running the shot clock isn't adjusting for small delays as the player walks back to their mark. If McKay was truly holding him back more than allowed, it would be a 50m penalty. Outside of that, they go off the 30 seconds shot clock and nothing else.
It was more than 30 seconds between taking the mark and starting his walk in to kick.
