Collingwood will win Saints will finish higher on the ladder.
Old mature team will start the season well then taper right off.

Making a delivery in the city near RMIT and heard Magpies carolling. One on the lightning rod, one on the dormer window.

Its over St Kilda, we have the high ground!

Magpies come around every morning to eat what's left of the dog's breakfast, the dogs at his grandma's, no food for the Pies, Saints win.

Besides, when Chito crashes into Pedelbury, he's going to spend the rest of the night looking for his dentures :p

So you, by a human act, have altered the course of events to create a false omen?

They're really only missing 2 players from the best 23 aren't they?

They have zero tall defenders, inc both of their best intercepting defenders out. If it’s not a 10 goal saints win something has gone terribly wrong.

Famed rover Billy Frampton can pinch hit in the kpd role.

Geez the Saints cut you deep.

It'll get better. Watch the b2b videos a few times.

A good game first of many at the MCG.
Rope and dope game this one written all over it.
Saints start well kicking first 2 goals.
Pies then settle in grind away.
Saints keeping in touch.
pies blast away late and wins by 18 points

Ackshually I’m saying that the Saints will do WELL and win BIG this weekend and that I have a lot of faith in them.

Incredibly short team Collingwood have picked. Reminds me of ours in the first half of last year in particular.

Not including their 4 tall mids (Long, Pendlebury, Crisp and Ed Allen, who are all listed as 190cm or more), they’ve only picked 4 other blokes taller than 188cm.

Cameron
Frampton
Buller
McStay

Only one of whom generally plays down back.

We on the other hand have 8 tall marking types over 190cm.

TDK
Marshall
Caminiti
Sharman
Silvagni
Tauru
Wilkie
Owens

Plus 193cm Mason Wood, who can/will play as a marking target up forward, if required.

So they’re presumably hoping to run us off our feet, as they could get monstered in the air.

It also doesn’t say much for their tall depth.

They’d rather go in super-short than pick any of their depth talls.

I'm tipping a Saints win

Saints have started seasons well in the new Lyon era (not necessarily round 1 but first few rounds- combined 9-3 over first 4 rounds over 3 seasons despite only 1 of 3 opening round wins).

Saints had 15 players beat PBs in time trial. Relatively healthy and two big wins.

Just feels with new players there's a buzz around the place, and we'll be raring to go.

I mean sure I see your point. But mine was that with your "all the Pies outs" comment I would have expected they were missing a lot of best 23 players which they are not.

Just a bit of exaggeration you know

Owen’s and Wilkie are 191cm’s - if that’s your benchmark, then add Crisp, Long, Pendlebury and Allen to the Coll list.
Marking types is an irrelevant distinction- Wilkie is outsized by both Buller and McStay. Caminiti will be out bodied by both. Frampton will take Marshall or TDK resting fwd. Maynard will take Sherman. IQ will take Owen’s.
Crisp, Pendlbury and to a lessor extent Allen have all been deployed back as required.

So I think Coll is more than well placed to counter any aerial threat except TDK, but he’ll have his hands full with Cameron.
If TDK does play fwd for an extended time, it will be a desperate attempt by Lyon to save the game - suggesting the preferred setup has failed.

Carlton, Geelong and now Hawthorn go down.

Just need Collingwood to lose and it will be the dream weekend for neutrals....
I think the Saints are more primed as Pies had a later start to pre-season and have been managing some niggles to players, while most of the team of only played 1 practice match at most. Would need Josh and Nick to play very well as the Saints midfield apart from NWM would not hold too many fears for good onball groups. Saints are expected to win especially after demanding this matchup and celebrating their flag. With all the off-field signings and none for the Pies, they would be devastated to lose this particularly with the 2 intercepting players missing and the added height in defence it gives. IQ might find Owen too tall but he is a great 1 on 1 player. Moore is a bit of a loss because when TDK went forward last year he had his measure quite easily.

Can't see Quaynor taking Owens. Surely he'll be on Higgins or Ryan.
