Eagles losing margin is 78 points this year. They’ve really got to address the periods where they switch off because they are getting torched when they drop off and it becomes so hard to pull back for such a young side. 2 wins already but they’re at risk of not winning again for four months. Thats grim.

I think the big beatings like this is what saps morale the most. Losing by 46 points to Geelong, ok, better, but 101 and whatever the Swans margin was just kills the vibe. That’s when the good players start thinking the grass is greener. Another year of this and Reid is gone. 2 more and Duursma is gone. McQualter needs to prioritise midfield experience asap. Get Neale across. Beef up the defence.

They have to be seriously in it next week or get a win.

They do have Yeo and Kelly, both are very expirenced midfielders.
Neale is a very good player but its like when Ablett went to GC, its all for the money.
Wont make a huge amount of difference.

You’re not getting Neale by offering him the money. You’re getting him to support and educate Reid and Duursma plus the other young kids. It’s like Hodge and Birchall at Brisbane. That’s the idea. Kelly isn’t very good and a far cry from Neale with 2x premierships and 2x Brownlows.

Why does the margin matter? Umps can still be horrible in a blowout

Sane posters find better things to complain about when there is a blowout. I'd be saving my breath for complaints about the list management team or why the players seem to have no ticker, but you go straight to the umps every time...

Forward line and midfield let down our backline, there was no reward on the scoreboard for any good work early on, and when heads dropped it got out of control. Poor performance

What are your thoughts on the arc decision then? Doesn’t matter if the margin is 100 or 5. It’s still a diabolical call.

No one got it….will be reviewed
I’m happy with the win considering all the crap that is being thrown at us re-spending money etc
WC. Won’t be Down for long

My thoughts are that getting riled up about umpiring decisions in 100+ point thumping is getting caught up on the little stuff, when there are much bigger problems for you to worry about.

No shit they’re suburban but to say WCE got r*ped by them is an over reach. Secondary goal they scored in the 3qtr was from a free lmao
I was going to immediately reply to this and bag you out, but I decided to wait a long time to make a decision and then disrupt the flow of the thread.

Umpiring was shit

Was far and away worse to WCE. If it was a close game it would of been a killer with some of the wrong decisions against WCE.

It would of only been an 89ish point win without the help of the umpires 😂

You think a player in a team that lost by 101 points would be BOG?
Yep it would.

And it will happen next Saturday night with saints next game.

Saints vs Carlton at Saturday night. saints will win by 101 points.

3 votes will be given to a Carlton player.... Patrick Cripps.

Saint12 , put all your money on the saints next Saturday night!

I'll take it.

That decision was a 50 50 call. That isnt the issue. The issue is doing the review after play already resumed and calling it back. Never happened before and isnt a rule
I don’t have an issue with it if they set a time limit for it (eg 30, 45 or 60 seconds max) and they’re sure about the decision.

Sure that's not an issue if it's a rule and told to everyone that can happen, not just pulled out their ass when it suits their agenda. Having said that has to be 30 sec max IMO, otherwise what happens if other team is having a shot at goal? Or potentially even scores a goal really quickly?

Because it compounds the issue. That free kick was given when the margin was still manageable.

We were getting well beaten but the Saints didn’t take their opportunities and teams have turned it around from there many times before.

That’s not to say we would have but having the opportunity taken away from a blatantly incorrect call, via a process that has never been used up until this point, leaves a pretty sour taste.

Insanity confirmed.

You truly believe a free kick was a potential turning point in a game you lost by over 100 points. One missed free kick may have turned "manageable" into 100+ points according to your line of thinking.

It is posts like this that lead me not to block you. I saw less funny acts at the Melbourne comedy festival this year.
