Same shit, different year mentally draining following this club

I'm convinced the club is permanently broken and can never be fixed.

Stop filling your board with flogs who dream of the good old days.

That is 100% on the members.

Tell Welsh to **** off and take Sheedy and Hird with him.

Nothing will change until this happens.

We will be firmly entrenched into the bottom four this season.

I like what Rosa has done as a list manager and I think we are moving in the right direction in that space but we are coming from a Dodoro sized hole with an unbalanced and untalented list.

Add in a bad coach and it is likely we only win 3-6 games this year.

Just want to see Sharp continue to grow. Had a great first game

I jokingly suggested the Hawks to win by 100, Gunston and Wiz to kick 5 each. I really expected the bombers to be a bit more fired up.

Makes the Merrett decision even more perplexing. Essendon have no use for Merrett. They would have been better off with the draft picks.

Dumb decision by a poorly run team.
When the Board gets involved in what was a football management decision, it shows what a mess they are.

They have now lost 14 straight regular season games.

You can 100% put Brad Scott in the Alistair Clarkson and Michael Voss category as coaches under the most pressure.
Didn't realise it was that bad.

It is striking how almost equally poo Essendon and Carlton have been for so long. They have a more recent flag, we have more recent finals wins, but overall just a whole lot of bad management and probably not fully getting with the times have meant both clubs are mired in constant mediocrity.

God for some reason i wrongly thought Essendon might've been competitive for a bit! If it wasn't for the Eagles we could possibly have looking at potential spoon winners there.

I guess it's just all about getting games and experience into their younger players, but it looks like there's a long season ahead for the Bombers there.

The Hawks will face a lot tougher tests than that, but you can only beat what's put in front of you which they did with aplomb.

We are pretty shit and very young.

Sooner we lose the last of the Dodoro duds along with Brad stepping away the better.

Sharp looked great though which was nice to see
Reckon we have one there.

You need to go down the hawthorn route. Gut it all and start again. Could have done it by trading Merrett. Carlton in a similar spot. Melbourne at least have begun offloading people that don’t want to be there. Your culture is shot when your best player wants out. Should have done it even if it cost you in capital coming back.

Its all the egos and chest puffing that gets in the way of good decisions. Every club has them at some time or another its knowing when to pull the trigger and having brave ppl that get new ppl to refresh and renew. Never let ego and bravado get in the way of decision making. Merrett being at Essendon is exactly all the reasons I have listed above. The list management and coach wanted the deal done but were over ruled by Welsh why because of their angst about him being traded to hawthorn. You keep doing u Essendon.

The club has been doing that getting younger every year second youngest side last night. 15 debutants since 2024 Hawks have only had 1 in that whole time.

Better way to do it.
Don’t think trading Merrett would changed this season. Hawthorn’s offer was trash.

Yep.

So many experts wanting to stacks on the bombers, but we didn't get a reasonable offer, so we kept him.

He might well go this year, but we reevaluate and take what's on offer. Didn't bow to the lowball and we still did well at the draft. Taking what they were offering would have meant very little looking at what we got and future picks will be far more valuable to us.

Essendon will be stuck in this rut till they stop looking backward at how they got here, and start looking forward on how they are going to effin fix it.

All I read here is Hird this, Dodoro that, Sheedy Wahh, Rutten Blah.

Get over it, and get good you fools! Deep down we actually want a strong Essendon, because clubbing seals is BORING!
