As a big fan of umpires, the umpiring fraternity, local umpires and a general fighter against umpire abuse on and offline - that was putrid. After not quite handing it to St Kilda last week they made sure not to let another one slip.

However, Crows can have the meaningless regular season wins. We'll show them the seasons doors once again come the pointy end

How did the umps give it to Adelaide? It’s literally 15-14 in the count. Even at most. How about your failure to recruit a forward AGAIN this off season.

What 50m penalty was incorrectly paid?

Surprise surprise, Collingwood don’t think the rules should apply for them.

They’ve tried exploiting the rules for years now, hardly worth getting upset when they’re held to the same expectation of every other team.

The fact Collingwood is so shocked the clearest 50s you’ll ever see were paid against them should tell you everything you need to know about how they’re usually looked after.

It's not about the amount, its the timing and where. Umpires (good folks, all of them are great people) will give a stupid non existent soft free in your back pocket to make those numbers hide the truth.

If you havent noticed that in your own games, or as a neutral, then i dont know what to tell you that will make sense in your head.

The games this year have been a MILE better umpired than last year where umps were guessing. All the 50’s last night were correctly paid

How does that apply to this game? Was the 50m a "non existent soft" free?

that Ben Keays goal was a highlight
fantastic goal at the right time

I never mentioned any other games plus I have stated umpires are great. I acknowledge your response and completely disagree with it, as coming from someone who most likely wanted the opposing and umpire favoured team to win. You won't change my mind, fella. I have eyes and ball knowledge sorry

Im not going to fine tooth every decision, it wasnt one specific thing. Ill tell you what didnt help though, was kicking ourselves out of a position that would have negated any umpiring brain farts

Adelaide looked like a completely different team with Ah Chee in the side. Loved the way they played last year but holy cow!! That third quarter they really ripped the Pies apart.
agree..
add's another attacking dimension to there game.
great pick up in the off season

You made a claim.
You were asked to provide evidence of that claim.
Now you’ve said you want, but that you won’t change your mind because you have “ball knowledge”.
Why bother engaging in the conversation then?

You are not making finals for at least another 5 years. Jog on. There were no contentious decisions whatsoever. Very well umpired game.

Yep of all the games to be annoyed at the umpiring this one isn't it, in fact the umpires did well all round, in part because the strict application of the stand rule is common practice not umpires interpreting it every single game which got 100 different interpretations. Stand still how hard is it! Stop complaining when you are trying to rig the system and the umpires into not paying them!

It felt so surreal not having the umpires screw up a game. I had already conditioned myself to expect a final quarter full of contentious decisions going to the Pies to bring them back into the game. And it didn’t happen. I still feel quite numb. All the free kicks paid to both teams were fair.

The Pies booing when Sidebottom whacked our player in the guts. Collingwood supporters have short memories, considering Brodie Smith lightly tapped Daicos in the qualifying final lol.

Overall an extremely satisfying win with no controversies. All those supporters bitching about the 50m frees. Yes it helped us. As a professional AFL team, if you have not learned the rules by now after months of notice, that is on you.

By round 3-4 no one will even complain about the 50's as players will get used to the interpretations. The last touch rule has been so good for the game, just annoying it took years to be brought in. Players will get used to the new interpretations on the stand, like they did the last time it may take a month getting used to it

There'll definitely be lots of scenarios where it's line ball though and 3 or 4 guys all stop to confer as to who is going to Stand.

FWIW though, I don't mind that. It won't happen that often, and when it does, it will give the team that won the contest an advantage. That's always been the point of winning a contest.
Haha. Just happened in the Sydney- Hawthorn game!

Two dudes on the Mark and neither moved!
