So weird we play the Dogs for a second time in the season before we've played any of Carlton/North/Eagles/Richmond.

Past performance is usually not a reliable indicator of future performance, but 3 votes J.Newcombe is a lock for this fixture almost every time.

His coach's votes in the last 6 games against the Bulldogs: 10, 9, 10, 0, 10, 4

Top of my head.. major changes compared to gather round are English in for the Dogs, Day in for the Hawks.

Hawks should be too strong at the MCG but not by a big margin

You knock us off easily every time we play. Mitchell completely owns Bevo

No one gives us a chance. I think we are a chance with Tim a big in from last time and the new ruck rules to make the difference in the midfield, we need to win this area well do have any chance. Not confident but if it is close we are the masters this season.

We do give you the preseason games at least

Surely the Dogs don't bring back Weightman given Hardwick owns him every time. He averages less than 6 disposals and 0.5 goals a game against Hawthorn. Could possibly destroy his confidence immediately

Might be a good decoy for West who Hardwick also owns, he can't play on both

Dogs rarely seem to win when not expected to, esp against Hawlong or Geethorn.

Agree the only counter to this is the dogs have only lost 1 game this season with Tim playing and that was a 12 point loss to a red hot Freo. Arguably, he has become our most important player with the new rules and was very good against the pies after a break due to concussion.

Is that right, didn't realise that. But I mean just the last few years even with him they've struggled vs the Hawks.

Hope it'll be different this time though.

Dogs banner had a go at Collingwood having to travel all the way from the MCG to Marvel Stadium.

Time to look in that mirror Dogs - the MCG has almost always been a (Westgate) bridge too far for the team from the west and their dozen or so fans (bar a couple of umpire assisted finals in 2016).

Hawks by plenty. Gunners to kick 10 like Jezza did to this backline.
