Was just thinking of the zurhaar shambles of a kick when the game was apparently over already …. Scrubs it from a very low percentage shot…
Couple teammates free ..
They should get rid of him, the reason north aren’t actually improving are from senior players like him

Just looked it up - Essendon's last win was in Round 11 last year against Richmond who were missing Tom Lynch, Toby Nankervis and Noah Balta.

What the hell has happened there in recent years?

We’ve been turning over about 10 players a year and getting younger as part of a rebuild.

That combined with significant injuries and we’ve had a bad VFL side on field most of last season towards the end.

This season it’s a combination of youth and key injuries. We’re bottoming out.

To be honest Essendon losing is something so common and so frequent that just isn't a big deal anymore at this stage.

The list is obviously really poor but when is that thin ice Brad Scott is skating on finally going to crack?
As a kid of the '80s, I still find this to be a beautiful thing.

The second half of last year they barely had 23 players to pick from, and most of those were the VFL side of an already younger group. Sydney had the same issues early last year.

This year, just plan putrid so far. Much worse than I thought they would be, and I had them as possibly being relegated to the same league as North, West Coast and Richmond. Thought Melbourne might come down with us as well.

False expectations.

You know, sometimes I think the manipulated draw does nobody any favours. A weaker team rises, gets a false sense of itself, drops down in the draft picks, then gets punished with a stronger draw the next year. etc etc

Just look at Essendon, every third year or so they pop up on the back of a generous draw, then get their ass slammed straight back down again in a way that takes three years to recover from because they decide they need a "reset".

People forget they were 3rd on the ladder as recently as Round 16, 2024. They musta thought success was around the corner, when in fact they were just cashing in on the Easiest Draw in League History.

Then reality reminds them they're mediocre, but they regard it as a sign of the need to burn everything and start all over again with a new footy department etc destabilising the whole damn show.

Just a thought, but you could argue it delivers a short-term sugar hit and then leaves teams stranded. Curious to see if it happens to Adelaide this year.
