The umpiring was shithouse. Carlton had something like ten of their first eight goals from shonky umpiring.
Not only is this not correct but people's fascination with free kick numbers and goals from free kicks makes little sense. The question is were they actual free kicks. Who cares if they lead to a goal if they are correctly awarded. The umpiring was the worst it's been in a game across 4 quarters I've been to in a long while and it was so far from being even it wasn't funny.

It's alright though nobody can mention umpiring because they get fined and the AFL don't hold them accountable for anything. All four of them will be umpiring again next week and the standard continues to fall while the AFL concerns themselves with more important matters like whether it should be a day or night GF.

I suggest you re read the comment.

Any goals from a stand rule infringement 50 are absolute trash. That is currently the worst rule in the game with the highest penalty by far. There were a few in this game that went Carltons way.

As for North. Trembath, Wardlaw, Sheezle. It's coming together finally. Parker has been huge for them this year and Daniel despite a few turnovers has been playing better as well.

What goal did Carlton get from a stand rule infringement? The only goal we got from a 50 from memory was Curtis in Q1 clearly within the 10m zone when North already had someone on the mark.

Those aren't umpiring faults though, just the rules committee (or whatever its replacement body is, "competition committee" or some such) trying to prove it is worth a bunch of full time jobs by doing something, anything, to please broadcasters.
Umpires are there to apply the rules, not write them.
