That's normal, I have players who I have to remind myself to judge them fairly because I have a mindset towards them.

I believe he’s umpired based on what he does, the application of the rules, and a couple of other factors that owe nothing at all to the AFL allegedly being ‘salty.’

They hit harder, they are lippier, they are more physical, when they hit a player around the shoulder the tackle doesn’t just bounce off the shoulder: it sticks, and often goes straight up and collects the opponent. When they deck an opponent, they don’t just drag them down - they’re strong enough to sling them down; they get pinned for it. They antagonise - so like today, they do things like give away differential free kicks or 50s. It’s also what often earns them extra free kicks. As I said - he already gets 2 per game. In large part I would imagine due to how eye catching his style is, how aggressive he is and the level of pressure he brings.

This is all good reasoning from you but ultimately falls to acknowledge the reality that he is umpired harsher than other players in the league.

The reasons for that may be multifaceted but the reality is clear and shouldn't be ignored.
