As much as we can bang on about injuries (which is valid), the Dogs have completely abandoned the defensive style from the first 3 games. The last few weeks have looked more like 2025 defense than the flood with desperate pressure from the start of the season.
In fairness to them the lack of experience in that back half was on the full display. They all looked lost when the ball was coming in and that's what injuries to keys can do. Even Dale looked panicked a few times.

In a tight contest, this thread's Most Accomplished Tool Polisher Award goes to.... Doggy. Well done Doggy, you've whinged incessantly all evening about your 'entire spine missing.' I couldn't agree more, your second half was spineless.
Credit to Bont, who did his best, but is clearly injured and lacked support. Treloar's haircut is a crime against humanity, ship him off to The Hague.

And suddenly, a new contender has emerged.

Nothing quite like getting chirped by a username that reads like a retirement plan. If you’re going to troll, at least don’t stamp your birth year on it like a relic tag.

The swans player who looks like Heeney sprints back and makes front on contact and tunnels Naughton which is blatantly obvious to see. Unless I’m missing something (didn’t watch the game) the umpires did not pay Naughton a free kick. The AFL also won’t suspend the Sydney player despite his contact causing injury. Yet we copped the pushing a player in a marking contest suspension last year.

Going back with the flight and not contesting the ball but making contact is one of the most dangerous things on a footy field. The AFL need to wisen the up instead of spending all their time worrying about turning the sport into netball.

why are you mad at something that's probably not going to happen (bolded)

We are in the process of becoming 2025 Essendon…not far to go now 🙁

Sad thing is is that when you have this many injuries, you're almost forced to play players that are underdone or carrying a niggle, which gets worse and forces them out.. another 6 to 8 weeks from now the list could be a complete shambles

I’m glad you wrote this! I was gobsmacked the commentators were saying “he’s knocked himself out, he’s knocked himself out!” I thought Nup, tunnelling!

Actually I think that’s a mirror you are looking in! Sheesh I thought the cats showboating about thrashing a team with no bench was bad, you sir, are a class A muppet! You won, with no effort, leave the poor bastards alone! Your win meant nothing!

MRO:

The incident involving the Sydney Swans’ Will Edwards and the Western Bulldogs’ Aaron Naughton from the Third Quarter of Thursday night’s match was assessed by the Match Review Officer. As the ball is kicked towards the Western Bulldogs’ goal, Edwards keeps his eyes on the ball and runs back with the flight looking to contest the mark. Edwards then checks his positioning before refocusing his eyes back on the ball. Realising he is going to arrive late to the contest, Edwards slows his momentum and attempts to minimise contact. The result is he makes body contact to Naughton as Naughton jumps for the mark, which causes Naughton to land awkwardly. It was the view of the MRO that Edwards’ actions were not unreasonable in the circumstances. No further action was taken.

“not unreasonable”. Makes sense

Showboating? The Cats thrashed the Dogs before their in-game injury avalanche started and to be honest because of that, it put a sour taste on the rest of the night. The final margin became irrelevant and there was zero issue with Dogs supporters rightly cursing their poor luck.

We had injuries before that game it just got worse during..

I don't think there was a lot of show boating. We were glad our team started well before 4 or 5 more Dogs injuries hit, then the rest of the game you couldn't read that much into.

What I've noticed is that Swans supporters really do not like the Bulldogs as a club (I think we know why), so there is animosity towards them that Geelong supporters don't have (where the hate only flows in the opposite direction).

Showboating? I didn’t even mention my team’s performance, just Doggy’s ongoing whinging.
The win meant four points, which isn’t nothing. Thanks for joining in the fun though, you really lifted the tone.

I didn't say there was any showboating?

You're a good Dog. Don't let the big birds wind you up.
Lol... you do exactly that.

I have no illusions how crap the dogs have been the last 3 weeks, but injuries have absolutely belted us and now we are playing a side with Richmond and WC experience levels.

The year is a write off because we keep getting injuries, and more in the VFL today as well as a number of very important players playing injured through necessity.

Not sure how many ladders have been walked under and how many black cats kicked but this is ****ed. It's all about getting experience into the kids for next year..

I agree. It's been a disaster and I find it distasteful for anyone to try and diminish the toll this avalanche of injuries is taking on the club. Nobody likes to see this. There are just too many kids to carry at the moment and it's difficult for most to shine without the necessary senior protection.

It's not going to get better... even Lobb who was a chance this week ... 4 more weeks now.

Sad watching Treloar he has no confidence in his body. Few times he should have accelerated away and kicked the goal and just gave to a teammate who was caught. He's playing out of necessity. If we had an otherwise healthy list Richards wouldn't be out there and arguable Bont wouldn't be either. Naughton probably wouldn't have been either before he was tunnelled..
