Naughton probably wouldn't have been either before he was tunnelled..
Well the people that run the sport say he wasn't tunnelled.

So you'd better take it up with them. (After all, a decade ago they agreed that 3 and possibly 4 umpiring decisions were incorrectly given against our team in a certain grand final.)

2016 still doing a lot of heavy lifting for Swans fans hey

Carried on like they’d won it just making the granny, had Buddy on a million a year and still couldn’t get it done. But yeah blame the umps, not the fact you got beaten when it mattered

Nearly ten years on and still crying, that’s tough

Actually I think you won 2016 fair and square.

Umpiring was shit, and it was our bad luck that your team played a style that capitalised best on it.

I posted just yesterday on the Swans board Game Day thread:

It was totally legitimate. Doesn’t mean it doesn’t sting like ****. Bulldogs did the 1% stuff that the experts always go on about better than we did. And that included a playing style that won them more free kicks.

It sucks that the umpiring was woeful and the Bulldogs’ style of play put them in a position to benefit from that. But they didn’t cheat. And there was certainly no grand conspiracy to gift them a flag.

I was just provoking you because it's so gratifying.

And pointing out that we have a governing body for this sport, and for all their glaring faults, they are vested with the responsibility to investigate and adjudicate on-field incidents, and they have declared that Edwards did not tunnel Naughton.

So you should not say he did, or people will lose respect for you as a poster.

You might want ro go rewatch it. When he cannoned into Naughton he didn't have his eyes on the ball at all.

1. It was a mark
2. It was front on contact
3. Nathan Williamson who r*ped us all night - play on, in fact play on whilst Naughton was motionless on the ground too. Always a piece of shit of an umpire.

Edwards was reckless.... he went through at a bullet a gate... he didn't mean it but he didn't know what the hell he was doing

And you call Swans supporters salty?

Doggies could do with a Bailey Smith right now :)

We will punish you and your perpetually pulverised team of over hyped all star w***ers again and again, until you admit that you were gifted a GF victory.

If not we will just do everything it takes to destroy your players….
if that’s via tunneling and / or sneaky shirt fronts that give you a permanent sting in the testicles -
so be it.
we will make you pay.
suck it up !

You’re a little bitch hiding behind a keyboard mate

All that tough talk and you can’t even spell properly. Absolute clown stuff

Still crying about 2016 like it happened yesterday. That loss clearly broke you

Maybe go back to rugby if AFL hurts you this much 👍

Yeah mate I’m not the AFL.

My point is if you see it differently to them, take it up with them. And maybe stop using the term unless you’re vindicated.

Probably pretty badly, but I like to think we wouldnt get blown away.

I think you missed the point of my post.. That the Dogs were put up on a pedestal without actually doing much in the last 24 months. The point I was (trying to) make was that the media and the footy loving public for some reason had endorsed your team as the next riser... All on the back of the best player in the comp (Yes, he is IMO) and a few rising stars.

But I think your list, in particular the top 23 is a bit too thin to make a real impact on the ladder in 2026, and that the injuries had exposed you badly.

You know the old adage, Flags are not won with the Top 6 players, but the quality of the bottom 6 in the team.
So remove hawks spine would be no Lewis, no chol, no meek, no Sicily and no barrass. Would be replacing with dear, McCabe, ramsden, scrim and probably a running type. Or McCabe plays back and Schubert comes in. Yep would look fairly dire

Or we can have issues with the incompetence of the governing body. Generally speaking there is no respect lost for calling out governing body when decisions are incomprehensible

That I agree with, expect to see more people getting drafted via the VFL and other state leagues to fill the talent gap across the league. Plenty running around that are good enough for AFL IMO look at Shaun Mannagh as a classic example.
How much of the lack of talent is the AFL pushing the game in a direction that heavily favours athleticism. This happens less in the local leagues.

Well sure, and we can all see if there’s a tremendous outcry in the footy world all week about a terrible injustice that’s been committed, but I think most people agree it was a nasty accident and nothing more.

Not quite sure what your point is, but as regards the Barry Hall matter, the facts of that were that the Swans hired one of the country's top QCs to take the AFL to court and read their rule book back to them, and force them to admit that, as their rules stood at the time, Hall had not committed an offence.

Do you get it? The AFL didn't choose to let Hall play, they were forced to admit by a court case that Hall was free to play.

Hall was a thug who I was glad to see the back of, and the AFL changed that rule immediately for the 2006 season, but none of that alters the fact that the Swans were entirely within the rules of the game as they stood in 2005.

And I assume the reference to cola is about Sydney's cost of living allowance that your club president Eddie McGuire, and all the other clubs presidents agreed to.
