Thirty years later: Not much has changed design wise for the Bears- the classic two tone vee has remained. The maroon has moved closer to a red, and the gold has become more metallic, in a move towards a more bolder display with the Bears come onto the ground. The vee has moved up and down the guernsey over the years, but the current design in 2029 has it sitting towards the middle with two smaller V's encasing it. The clash guernsey is merely a inversing of the colours to keep the branding consistent.

Excellent work TheFreightTrain:thumbsu:. Like other poster's I'm looking forward to the remaining teams you do. Will there possibly be a Tassie one?.

Possibly.

Hey TheFreightTrain, any chance of just posting a little picture of the '99 version next to, above, below or whatever, the '29 photo? Like there for a little comparison?

I love how you've incorporated the teams colours in the AFL logo. I really think the AFL can look at doing something like this. Obviously it works nicely with your design, probably wouldn't work with the current one. Great portfolio man! Keep it coming :D

Might do that, actually!

Cheers man! Gonna keep it coming, definitely. :)

Thirty years later: Due to the overwhelming success from games held at the newly-upgraded Manuka Oval, as well as a massive population spike, Canberra was also awarded an AFL license along with three other teams in 2022 (one of those being the previously featured Auckland Sharks) and so began the Canberra Capitals. Their main colour is green (forest green and lime green being used together), along the lines of fellow teams Canberra United FC and the Canberra Raiders. The team never stuck with one main guernsey, rather they have mixed it up over their short lives in the league- the one constant being the stylised Parliament House flagpole, which is arguably the main symbol of Canberra.

Bears reminds me a lot of QLD's League origin strips, which is what I imagine the Brisbane hierarchy were aiming for to increase their supporter base.

Spot on, and given this portfolio is assuming the downtrend in league, I figured moving the Bears colours closer to those of the Maroons was a good move.

Thirty years later: Well, navy blue was never going to be leaving the equation. Over time though, due to low merchandise sales and the lack of a premiership since the 90's, the board decided to implement a new colour into the equation in 2024: gold. Whilst controversial at first, this new detailing on their guernseys would be a symbol of their aim and would lead to a surge of consecutive finals appearances since! On the back of the guernsey is a timeline of every Carlton logo used since their inception.

Still no Grand Finals, huh?

*sigh*, how much longer do I have to wait?!

Love the little Carlton logo's on the back, nice touch :thumbsu:

I see where your coming from royboy2 , strange for me though with the Bears strip , my first thoughts were that there was a bit of FSU (Florida State ) Seminoles inspiration with it FWIW.

I know I'm revisiting an old chestnut here but that's one of the perks of supporting every team ever - one of them is bound to win something eventually.

CollingwoodMagpies.png

Thirty years later: The design was never going to change much at Collingwood. After a brief stint in the 00's with an inverse home jumper of white stripes on a black base, the 'Pies finally reverted to their traditional design of a primarily white guernsey. This was achieved following the sacking of exuberant club president, Eddie McGuire, and a sit down meeting with the Port Adelaide Football Club, in order to best preserve the tradition of both clubs. The stripes have a subtle two-toned diagonal through them on the home jumper, symbolic of the nature of a swooping magpie. The away guernsey features a black base with subtle, thin stripes and white detailing, maintaining the traditional striped design.
