Just finished a quick game.
The most enjoyable game I have had so far on medium difficulty.

Plenty of improvement, but I'll just focus on the things I think need further improving.

The player movement is much improved again. But still a bit slow to react from a handball or kick receive.
-spoiling is not possible, regardless of position or timing. If anyone has a trick to doing it I'm happy to hear it.
-tackling is better, but the AI are mostly too quick, making it more of a game of keepers off at times.
-I can see a marking timer bar, but it doesn't actually do anything or even move.
Luckily is was still there when the doggys were singing the song and the white line on old mates arm appears to be what should be the mark on the meter.
-only a small one, but after the game. I could barely hear the bulldogs sing the song, was very quite. And norths song cuts in just before the join in the chorus and basically skips the hearts to hearts section.
-goal kicking is waaaaay to easy.

I'm also getting a purple and green flashing light frequently apear, not sure if anyone else has been getting this? Screenshot_20230510_221227_Gallery.jpg 20230510_215754.jpg

Not really that baffling.

As you can read here, some people have crashes all the time, some have a few, some have none.

Every time we add something in, the crash potential increases. We can test but there is no way we can do all the combinations that thousands of people will do in the wild from button mashing, spamming certain buttons, controller disconnects, etc.

Will definitely look at it.
Thanks for clearing it up and explaining it. I'm no pro at this stuff so it's good to get responses like that to help us better understand.

I’ll admit I was disappointed when I gave the game a crack today for the first time since Saturday.

The game still lags ALOT for changing direction and kicking. Players around the ball are still abysmally unattentive. When you kick for goal during play, the defender will either tackle you or just stand there next to you as you kick. Every player on your team is baisically useless unless you select them to control. And then it’s hope for the best, and that they do what you want them to do.

The kicking is ridiculously slow. You should be able to start powering your kick the moment the ball touches the players hand. At the moment there is at least a second wait before you can power your kick. I have never felt THIS OUT OF CONTROL in a sports game EVER. Even something as simple as moving your player to a specific direction is a constant battle. Forget the opposition, I feel like I’m battling the game itself.

As it stands right now, this is the least playable AFL game ever.

Even AFL Live 2 was more playable.

It’s got potential but I question how it can be 7 days since release and they are still way off an acceptable state despite saying it would take a week to have it how it should’ve been at launch. I hope Big ant can fix it, but I’m becoming skeptical they will.

Do we have a conclusive answer on which is the hardest? Kinda sick of winning by 10 goals on hardest

Delicious hyperbole

wouldn't say its the least playable, it's not perfect but it's improving gradually.

How are you doing this? I consider myself reasonably good at AFL games, and I find hard a good challenge. Are you playing as the same team every game? Wondering if you've found some way of dominating with that team or if there's a gameplay loophole you're exploiting

Three of the biggest issues on ps5

With Mcgrath here, im pushing the controller towards the player with the ball. he ignores this and keeps running away. This is very common.

Tippa runs onto a ball in open space, as soon as the ball is gathered i attempt to turn around to kick it our way. He takes so long to turn that he gets caught.

Handball to a free player from a mark, stops, runs slowly then normal speed. most times this gets you caught.

Really good feature about Evo 2 was that you could pre plan your disposal
For example if you pick up the ball and are about to get tackled, if you press handball before you pick it up, it will handball instantly
Same with kicking
This would be an excellent way to keep the flow of the game whilst feeling in control of your players
If someone could suggest this to Ross, that would be great 👌🏼

I don't see anything. Could it be your meds? A classic symptom of chronic hypertrichosis is if you see green and purple squares. As long as you don't see those you're good.

L2+Tap X or Square is your friend. So is Hands up, and even holding Square or X while while being tackled and releasing before being pinged 👍

Just played my first few online matches since this mornings PS5 update and this game is now 100x better than it was and yes I know, it was a low bar but things really are improving. I don’t play offline so no comments there.

Pros:
  1. Player movement greatly improved;
  2. Flow of play so much better with being able to receive the ball and play-on in the one motion;
  3. Handballs going where I aim them;
  4. I was decent at rucks before but reading the guide now has me about a 99% win rate;
  5. Contests are so much easier to win now that I know to look for the almost invisible bar under the players.
  6. Teleporting players…..gone!!
Cons:
  1. Tackling a player and 10secs later they’re able to get to their feet and play on;
  2. Goal kicking is waaayyyyy too easy;
  3. No wind or there is wind but it’s irrelevant;
  4. No ability to take a super quick kick at goal;
  5. AI players making poor or no runs off the ball whatsoever.
It’s finally starting to play like a footy game with much fewer frustrations than yesterday and the day before that and so on.

The hands up feature is only good for getting the ball out
Doesn’t actually handball it to another teammate unless you get lucky
Also same with the clearance buttons
The concept is cool but I just think pre planning your disposal could be a good way to break up some of the gameplay so it doesn’t feel so rinse and repeat

Any key takeaways?
What I saw that he said is:

  • AI currently using tactics, will be in the game by friday
  • Currently wind and footedness not properly implemented for goal kicking
  • Player career will be in the next iteration of the game
  • Once all the original features are in they will slow the patching down as he already said
  • On the fly tactics IE using d-pad also coming with the full tactics
  • All guernseys will come they were supposed to be there (Pies/Dons ANZAC day etc)
  • More difficulty tuning will be coming once they have usable data
  • He will be explaining everything that happened with the launch and what steps they took post launch etc, possibly in a pod with Michaels

I feel like I missed one but hope that helps.
