Multiplat AFL 23: Launch Thread (Xbox release date TBC)

STATE OF PLAY:

• The game is out for Steam and PlayStation. There have been issues with Xbox release and it is unclear when the game will be available.
• Big Ant are aware that there are playability issues & bugs at present.
• Content has been temporarily removed from the game to identify where the issues lie.
• This content will be re-introduced via patches in the coming days.
• Big Ant have released a summary of what is to be reintroduced, which can be seen below.

Yes. Both versions are the 1.001.003 (I think) build which is clearly, not the right one

It also happened with AO Tennis.

I would have thought version control, sign off precedures etc all would have been tightened up since then. Maybe they have and it's still not good enough? Who knows?

This is assuming that this is actually what happened with both games. Could just be bad luck.

I don't want you to do anything, because it kinda looks like you just wanna dump on the game. But if you're interesting in actually knowing what happened, use some critical thinking and realise that Ross has pretty clearly said that the version that's live isn't what it's meant to be.

So then he can pretty clearly tell us exactly what is wrong and missing

This is really depressing to see the community turn against eachother like this but I think it’s well warranted. The game itself is so broken and missing so much. I feel like BA have really dug themselves a hole here that will be hard to get out of.

I know alot of day 1 patches are brought out straight away even with fifa etc, but to allow the non finished product or at least the wrong version to go live is just mind boggling to me. I want to get the game and will, but I don’t see the point at the moment with how bad it’s playing currently

Alot of people seem to be so shocked at this? Whilst I haven't had a chance to play this yet, I can't judge.

However, we're living in the age of broken games on release, not just by Big Ant.. But even by much larger developers.

Look at Battlefield 2042 is a prime example.. That sh*t was unplayable when released. Look at Cyberpunk - worst release I'm history. Duke Nukem remake. GTA Trilogy. This list goes on.

Because broken games at launch shouldn’t be the norm, it’s shady business practices.

You wouldn’t be happy buying a new car that only works every now and then.

You sure you're talking about AFL Live, or Live 2 or one of the Evo games?

AFL Live definitely had bugs but nothing like this. It launched in the best state of any AFL game post-PS2 era. This is Cyberpunk on Xbox One/PS4 or that Ashes game territory.

Yes the big ant one that i loved dearly. Eventually.

Im not comparing it to any other because i did not play them as much as Live.

But it had a LOT of flaws. I felt stupid for trying to enjoy it knowing it was garbage.

I won’t do that this time.

Looking forward to the patches in a few months.

Any idea how long it took to release the correct patch after launch? Got a feeling there’s a long process that needs to be followed to get a patch approved and uploaded, probably not going to be a patch that comes out later today I’d think?

I can’t see a fix for PS users anytime soon since that seems to be a bit of a process to go through
