Curious whether this is just the AFL loosely rewriting the information we’ve been told or if there’s credibility to the “coming days” timeline. I have my money on no credibility whatsoever.

If the game had released in a good state, but with a couple hilarious glitches like that, it would have been the best launch ever.

Is there really an issue with the grounds broadcast camera being wrong? Or is it a annoying OCD type thing?

I believe the grounds are correct but the broadcast camera has been changed to the other side on some grounds because it would otherwise clip into a grandstand/structure if it remained on that side.

So rather than fix that you just chuck the camera on the wrong side?

Ive been playing on and off for awhile now ill list some of the things i think need tweaking:

  • AI needs to be able to spoil and outmark the user when in a 2on1 or 3on2
  • User movement needs to be tuned sometimes it feels like the player is a truck and struggles to turn around or just move in general
  • Handballing needs a little bit more work
  • User tackling needs a lot more work still, still feels like i cant tackle

Modes or features that need to be added:
  • Online leaderboards or some sort of stat tracking (maybe a reset of games played to date currently
  • Online Private or Custom Match option
  • Stats screens at breaks (QT, HT, 3QTT, FT)
  • Tactics, probably the one that needs to be added in ASAP

Overall its got a good base to work off, just some things need tweaking to iron the bugs out

I 110% share the same thoughts as you mate! Great base but the above needs addressing

Played a bit now post-PS5 patch.

Slightly better, not really a fun game apart from being able to nail set shots and hit up leads which is good.

Marking is deplorable, ruckwork is shithouse, handballing sucks, tackling is crap. There's no joy in being in congestion or in the contest, it's an absolute mess. Players doing that weird pause when they receive the ball combined with the horrendous handballing makes it super frustrating.

Besides all that, in terms of game modes and extras the game is obviously incredibly light. Career management has some semi-cool things but trading is broken and the whole thing lacks polish. Not sure if you can make it past season 1 after this patch but I couldn't initially.

Online is frustrating as all hell. Every game I play descends into a quarter of soccer where it bugs out and nobody can pick up the ball.

Really sad for all us footy+gaming nuffies who just want an enjoyable gameplay experience for the sport we love, especially us older fellas who've put up with this rubbish for most of our lives.

Sadly, it seems that we will never get a decent AFL game. The sooner we realise that the better I guess. The size of our dinky little sport just doesn't make it feasible.

I am going to return my game to JB Hifi now. Had BigAntStudios given us some kind of indication (hope) of where the game SHOULD be and how long it'll take to get back on track then I would have kept it. I'm not blindly holding hope after the last few months of vague responses and avoiding questions. For a lot of my life I've dealt with offshore factories so I'm used to picking up on red flags, reading between the lines and identifying when somebody is avoiding the tough questions and then deducing the answer as a result. It seems very similar to the way Ross has acted at times (like, where have the VFL/WAFL/SANFL teams gone??).

I'll keep reading this trainwreck for the lols and by some miracle if the game does improve in the coming months I might grab it again but for now I am counting down the hours till the next Zelda game.
