Gday,

Was hoping someone here can give me their opinion on the General Admission Hill.

I have bought a couple of tix for the Crows / WCE game coming up which we are looking forward to.
Any time we have attended Adel Oval, we have sat up high in the Southern stand.

I was keen to watch a match from the old hill and have bought 3 GA's but now I am bit concerned about taking my 8 year old son.

Does it get overly 'rowdy' in that area?

Will he have any issue actually seeing the game, as it is standing only?

(Probably should have asked these questions before hey?!)

Thanks, keen to hear your opinions.
I took my sons (13, 15) to the GWS game and we sat/stood at the front of the hill. Pretty sure the game was roughly the same time of day as the Eagles game is (early arvo). You get a good view if you stand near the front railings and as a bonus your lad can do what mine did and sit on the railing itself (as long as you have your legs facing inside the rail :drunk:)

Yes there was some boisterous fans who had had a few but it was nothing untoward. Security/Police presence is fairly high also.

That's practically criminal. For all the rubbish that people crap on about being Un-Australian, that's Un-Australian.

How do you ban a non-member? Do they put pictures of her at all the entrances with the words "Refuse entry"?
Exactly. Do the AO staff have mug shots in their hat of recalcitrant supporters? Short of deactivating someone's membership card how do you police someone else buying tickets or the woman dying her hair and getting in. Are we implementing advanced facial recognition measures down there or something?

More like a face saving exercise and she is a member.

Why did it take so long? And are you happy with the choice?
With all respect, piss off.

It's a race, it's not a big deal, don't try and make an issue of it. You won't find anyone that has an issue with the choice. The only people that will have an issue with it will be one of the many trolls we have posting here claiming to be an Adelaide supporter. Just on that should we start a thread to 'out' these trolls? We know who they are.

Agree, only reason it 'took so long" was because its a race, it doesn't NEED a name (although nothing wrong with naming it either). It s not like a grandstand that needs a way of being identified.

The only negativity about not naming it earlier was either because of port supporters/the media getting on the bandwagon of everything they are doing being gold and anyone who didn't think of the idea themselves dropping the ball, or crows supporters who got sucked into this hype.

No issue with choosing to honour Hammond. If i had a blank canvas id say Ricciuto as one of our greatest players who led the club up the race (i know not that specific race) as captain so many times is more symbolic/meaningful to the race but he has bigger honours already

Jeez settle down mate, not suggesting it was a race at all. I just thought it was odd that it happened 2 thirds through the season. Why not at the start of this season, or unveil it first game next year, but I guess "there's no time like the present". And I'm not having a go about Bob Hammond, just interested in supporters' views given it could have gone to a player (eg. first player to reach 300 games...was it Ben Hart?) or coach (eg. premiership coach...Blight). An 18 year old kid wouldn't know who Bob Hammond or Geof Motley are but I guess it's tributes like that which make football clubs great.

I think I know why I love living in Melbourne so much and going to Crows games at the MCG and Docklands...

I don't have to sit with Crows supporterss

grow up
It was a positive announcement today, then the power supporter comes in with 2 negative views on it, 1. Why so long? 2. Why Bob Hammond?

That doesn't add anything, it's aimed to stir shit.

I will give the poster credit, least he/her posted under his/her Power account and not their phoney crows account. My main issue is with the ridiculous amount of phoney crows posters on here.

We've (finally) named our race

The original post by a Crows Supporter said "(finally)"

1. Sorry I should've asked "Why announce it coming into Round 17" but Tex Danger's point on avoiding the allegations of copying Port is fair enough. Thanks for your sensible discussion Tex. Edit: And as pointed out above I was responding to the poster's reference of "finally".
2. Re-read my second point: "Are you happy with the choice", NOT "Why Bob Hammond". Very different questions.

The question from the Power supporter would be fine if they weren't over on the Port Power board earlier in the day having a joke about it with his fellow bandwagoners.

Anyway its just a race, not everything needs a precisely timed live streamed press conference from the MCG or whatever else.
