The AFL does not hold state secrets that are unlawful to disclose.I got news for you cobber. Governments do suppress news they don't want you do know, and its called the official secrets act, and i covers multiple things and not just state secrets.
The comparison is with Turnbull the person and the political parties themselves. They can spin like s**t and threaten legal action, but they cannot suppress news. A journalist keeping a good story hidden because of pressure is unlikely to keep their job.
The best news stories are negative scandalous stories, about prominent powerful people and organisations. They exert pressure, a journalists job is to withstand it.
A run of no bad AFL stories coming out is a sign of nothing negative of note, not a sign of the AFLs all knowing media omniscience and power.
