AUSTRALIA'S premier automotive brand Toyota today extended its long-term sponsorship of the Australian Football League until at least the end of the 2019 season.

The three-year agreement, which ranks among the biggest sponsorship deals in Australian sport, will extend Toyota’s position as the AFL’s premier partner to 16 years.

Toyota president Dave Buttner and AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan announced the sponsorship extension at the official launch of the 2016 Toyota AFL Finals Series in Melbourne today.

See Port picking up sponsorship for their Academy work:
ENERGYAUSTRALIA has signed a three-year deal to continue its support of the Port Adelaide Football Club AFL Aboriginal Academy, alongside the South Australia Aboriginal Sports Training Academy.

The AFL Aboriginal Academy becomes EnergyAustralia’s primary sponsorship with Port Adelaide after it decided not to extend its joint major partnership of the football club.

EnergyAustralia has been a joint major partner of the Club’s AFL and SANFL teams for the past three years as well as a primary backer of the AFL Aboriginal Academy.

Its been reported that BLK have gone broke Interesting to see how all the 6 clubs with them cover this
I reckon the six clubs involved will move on quickly, but it's the smaller comps which might find it tough, like AFL Sydney and AFL Queensland.

AFL Sydney and AFL Queensland are 100% AFL owned competitions. They'll be fine - i reckon COAR are in with a good chance to make a big name for themselves here.

The short notice will probably mean the next years deals will be discounted somewhat, both due to supply and demand and the extra costs the suppliers will have to get everything going in a shorter timeframe. Depending on the club, it'll probably be about $50-100K down on what they otherwise would have got.

The bigger hurt will probably be merchandise sales...Not having gear to sell for Christmas will eat into sales.

http://www.richmondfc.com.au/news/2016-12-01/richmond-partner-with-puma

Richmond is excited to announce a new partnership with world-class sports brand PUMA, for at least the next five years.

PUMA will be the Club’s new apparel partner from 2017, supplying the team’s playing and performance apparel, as well as the Club’s retail apparel range.

One of the world’s leading sports brands, designing, developing, selling and marketing apparel, footwear and accessories, PUMA partners with some of the world’s best sports teams and organisations including Arsenal Football Club, Borussia Dortmund and the Italian Football Association (FIGC).

Richmond had agreed to partner with the global sports brand, initially to start in 2018, but has worked with PUMA to commence the partnership immediately.

"We are proud to partner a world-class brand in PUMA that will now provide all the Club's on and off-field apparel from the 2017 season," Richmond CEO Brendon Gale said.

"For a number of reasons we had started to explore apparel partnership options. We had been in discussions with PUMA for some time and given their reputation for quality service, and products, it was clear they are our preferred partner moving forward.

"We had agreed earlier this year to commence our partnership with PUMA in 2018, however, given the issues with our contracted supplier, PUMA have been able to step in immediately which is fantastic.

"While the situation with our current supplier is disappointing, the Club has been proactively considering its options and is subsequently very well placed to deal with it.

"We now look forward to a long and successful relationship with PUMA. They partner some of the biggest sporting brands in the world and we are pleased they saw fit to partner with Richmond."

Paul Gautier, General Manager PUMA Oceania is excited to develop the brand’s journey in AFL with Richmond.

“PUMA’s brand mission is to be the fastest sports brand in the world. Our investment in AFL is critical in delivering our goals in sports,” Gautier said.

“With PUMA’s rich heritage in sport since 1948 and Richmond as one of the big, traditional AFL clubs in the competition, we feel that our partnership is a perfect fit.

“Timing is everything. The PUMA journey back to its rightful position in the market is well and truly on track and we look forward to taking the next steps on that journey with Richmond.”

Richmond’s new PUMA range will be available to purchase before the start of the 2017 home-and-away season.

AFL club Brisbane Lions have confirmed that they have switched to US apparel company Majestic Athletic.

It is Majestic’s first foray into AFL, and begins a season earlier than anticipated, with the partnership running until the 2020 season. Majestic will supply the team’s playing and performance apparel, as well as retail gear.

First reported in December, the Lions moved quickly to make Majestic their official apparel partner after the collapse of their former apparel supplier, BLK.

The Majestic brand already has presence in Australia as the company has a current four year deal as the official uniform supplier for all eight Big Bash League teams. They are also the on-field uniform supplier for all 30 Major League Baseball teams, and also manufacture sports apparel NFL, NBA and the NHL franchises.

“We’re excited to be entering a partnership with this premiere club,” said Brett Scholl, President of International, Majestic.

“I am confident that our innovative product, commitment to service excellence, and retail proficiency will allow us to optimise results for the Brisbane Lions and their legion of fans.”

Brisbane Lions CEO Greg Swann added: “The club has undergone many significant changes recently, and we are very pleased to be able to finalise this new partnership. Majestic Athletic has an international reputation for supplying quality sporting apparel and merchandise to some of the largest brands and sports around the world, and we are excited to welcome them to the Lions.”

The Adelaide Crows are pleased to announce their new official radio partners are Triple M and hit107.

The popular stations are part of the Southern Cross Austereo network and will hold Premier Partner status for the next three years.

As an official AFL broadcaster, Triple M already offers live coverage of all the Club’s premiership season matches.

Both stations will now have exclusive access to Crows players, coaches and officials, while other benefits include significant branding at Adelaide Oval.

Southern Cross Austereo reaches millions of Australians everyday though nationwide radio and digital offerings, as well as regional free-to-air TV networks.

Crows CEO Andrew Fagan said the association would bring benefits for listeners, especially Crows fans.

“Triple M is strong national brand known for its engaging content and emphasis on sport, particularly its top rating AFL broadcasts,” Fagan said.

“We also look forward to engaging with hit107 and its young and vibrant audience.

“We will work closely to ensure our respective organisations continue to grow and remain a prominent part of the South Australian landscape.”

Good get by the Lions. Personally I can't stand the stuff, almost as bad as Adelaide's west end draught.
