Why? Jeep, Hyundai, Skoda, Volkswagon, Fiat, Renault, and previously Volvo, and Nissan have all sponsored teams in the afl with no manufacturing presence in Australia

Fiat Chrysler Australia, aka Jeep in footy sponsorship terms, is mired in mismanagement allegations, & it play its way out in the Courts over the next few months :
Fiat Chrysler Australia (FCA) launched legal action against former managing director Clyde Campbell.
It accuses him of misappropriating and misusing more than $30 million of company money to fund an extravagant lifestyle for his family and business associates.

Relevant to future sponsorship:
"Think about it. We have never really made a dollar here in Australia. We have been living off the money of the parent company to build a presence, build market share.
& its not just footy that was involved:
Other expenditure included a budget of $500,000 authorised by ... to fund a Fiat Abarth racing team to compete at the Bathurst 12-hour race last year. The venture ended up costing Fiat Chrysler more than $800,000.

Its the stuff of mini series.

Article doesnt specifically talk about footy at all. Doesnt talk about sponsorship specifically. It does refer to inapropriate expenditure by Campbell and favours to his associates. (Fiat sponsor Gold Coast, Jeep sponsor Richmond)

Not suggesting for one second the Jeep/Fiat sports sponsorships are in the gun, but it will be reviewed of that there can be no doubt.

Sponsorships

I think the current St.Kilda administration would have set the club up properly had they had control back in 2003-4. It's very disappointing that in that time (2003-2015), Hawfawn have gone past the Saints as far as active supporters, members and financial clout. I think it says a lot about two things, how bad the saints were run under Fraser, and how well the Hawks were managed.

The next 5 years will decide if the saints can rebuild and return those that have left back to the club. Sponsorship dollars help massively, however another 25K members would be even bigger.

Replacing BUPA apparently

http://www.theage.com.au/victoria/h...onsorship-deal-with-audi-20150619-ghsqcu.html

Hawthorn has entrenched its position as one of the financial powerhouses of the AFL after landing German car giant Audi as a major club sponsor for the next three seasons.

The Audi deal is worth in excess of $1 million a year to the Hawks and begins on November 1. The reigning premiers beat St Kilda and the Western Bulldogs for the partnership: both clubs had also held discussions with Audi about a major sponsorship dea

Holden to sign $3m sponsorship deal with AFL club Collingwood Magpies

Holden will on Wednesday sign one of the biggest sports club sponsorship deals in Australian sport with AFL team Collingwood, in an agreement understood to be worth more than $3 million annually.

The car giant will replace banking group Westpac as the naming rights sponsor for Collingwood's training and administration facility near the Melbourne Cricket Ground and step up to be a top-tier premier partner.

Holden's deal is understood to top the five-year $10 million agreement Collingwood signed with Emirates last year for the airline to remain a premier partner alongside CGU, Latrobe Financial and Star Athletic.

National Storage has been removed from the lions homepage, so it's fair to say that we will be looking for a co-sponsor in 2016.

Done a code switch and will be sponsoring the Brisbane Broncos until 2019. They've also done sponsorship deals with Perth glory in the Aleague (started this season) and Melbourne Stars in the BBL.

After 5 years, ME bank no longer sponsoring the Tigers...No word on a replacement yet.

The training facilities at punt road oval were called the ME Bank center (not sure if it was sentiment or legal restrictions that stopped the oval being branded) so it should be a reasonably easy sell to get a new sponsor (prominent location, regularly referred to).

Things not good for Dogs sponsor:

... a small Western Sydney based legal firm, Cox West Lawyers, has stunned the legal community by lodging an urgent court claim against Slater & Gordon for the payment of funds because of its fear the listed firm is insolvent.

this might seem a silly question, but is Peter Gordon the Gordon in Slater & Gordon? for some reason, I thought that wasn't the case
