Scandal AFL auditing third party payments from Geelong

It feels like any other club in the comp wouldn't get a second glance over this stuff.
Port are literally in the middle of the exact same audit but only one club is grilled.

Not Port who has been picking up player after player every offseason?

Double standards.

You actually summarise my position, personally. I think I'm more touchy because it has gained so much traction.

The club has done so much right to get up from its knees in '99, it's almost as if the smaller clubs resent us no long schlepping it with them and the stronger clubs resent us getting in their way.

And, like all conspiracy theories, the mere fact that we keep passing any review or audit will be seen as further confirmation that the conspiracy exists.

I mean, ffs, half of Collingwood's list is "poached" by the standard Geelong is held to. We play thirteen frigging away games a year in a comp where the narrowness of Marvel and Adelaide Oval aren't mentioned. Cotton On had Smith on their books in 2021 because he was a marketable Grand Final star. Argh.

It feels like any other club in the comp wouldn't get a second glance over this stuff.
I’ll go one further, Cats’ home ground advantage is the biggest leg up in the AFL

In addition to the great post above by joe444, your post highlights another reason for the angst we generate. Supporters of the amalgamated Melbourne clubs are filthy Geelong refused to kowtow to the AFL's ground rationalisation. Having to watch their clubs one by one sell out on the last remaining piece of their soul and identity while little old Geelong kept theirs well and truly intact would have been a humiliating experience for any supporter base.

Not just porr but every team goes through this review process year after year whiteout a whimper of a noise from anyone.

I’ll say it again for the people that can’t grasp the basic facts : ITS A ROUTINE AUDIT

[emoji637][emoji640] games at the MCG

Cats play [emoji637][emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]]] times at KP

Surely you’re not that dense

…. Geelong doesn’t share KP with anyone, there’s 5 MCG tenants who play against each other for home games and it nulls the home ground advantage.

Geelong clearly has the strongest home ground advantage, why not be proud of it? lol

It is a routine audit but it is being overseen by someone that was at the club during the period that is being audited. Sure, he is not a person that is directly doing the audit but he is overseeing it which is something that is very questionable.
Again, do I think Geelong have done anything different to any other club? No, but it certainly is poor from the AFL that this audit is being overseen by someone who was directly involved in one of the clubs being audited.

Have you seen Giants stadium? its nowhere near the home crowd and vibe of KP. Again I do not know why Geelong fans are so afraid to embrace their culture... seriously you are the most consistent team in the post 2000s era with so much to be proud of, why hide it?

Gabba is a shit heap but yeah its a home ground but its not the same as KP, GC barely have fans, same with giants and the SCG is a great homeground for the Swans but its fans are not as ruthless as cats fans and the environment is not the same as the cattery.

No one is trying to take anything away from you....

Lol. How would a Collingwood supporter know what the vibe of KP is like?

Agree, not only do you get 14 home games, plenty ‘neutral’ but rarely the away team.
Even when you play away against Suns, Giants and to a lesser extent Swans etc it’s really your home crowd.
Good on you I guess but you rarely play true away games. Against Geelong you could but you never travel here.

When it comes to finals you get to turn away finals into home ones.
I would swap our supposed h&a advantage with all your advantages.
It’s so ironic pies and tiger fans do the most complaining around this.

im not complaining at at all, the fixture is cooked but thats just built in to the system.

I do not complain about Geelong playing at KP because I know the system is not fair... if you can find somehwere I complained about it I will gladly walk it back but I like that KP gets a lot of home and away games, finals is different and cats would rather play finals at the G anyway to prepare for a GF and get more fans to the games. Anyway...

Collingwood is used as a marquee for new clubs so we always play in sydney and Qld and get compensated by playing a lot of games in the MCG especially at the back end of seasons.

Nothing is fair in the AFL not sure why you are saying I am complaining about the cats lol.

Coming from a Pies supporter lmao.
Your team literally never has to play there.
