GF - I hope no one is saying that Woden have a stacked side????? They all have been around the club for awhile now and it's great to see all the old blokes out there giving their all for a club that has a lot of respect in the Canberra District League. Woden have played some great footy over the past month or 2 and I wish them all the best for this weekends game.

On this weekends games, I wish all teams involve the best and as we have seen all year I'm expecting some close matches.

GF if you play on the weekend don't wear grey Nike boots mate they only acheive post results. :D

Nice words Hilly. The main nucleous of the Blues have been around for years, and they deserve their shot at the finals. The Weston Creek boys that have joined is minimal, have all been over 30 years old and have fitted into the lazy drinking side easily. It is not as if Woden have picked up any 27 year old guns... They have an old, experienced, balanced team who have been around since div 3.

So for those of us who make up the numbers now

Who are the best players in Div 3 and Div 4

And who are the hardmen of the Canberra Districts

And Long Haul - the league does need to look at helping clubs with finals or three divisions - those clubs like the Cootas, Yass, Coomas even Jugs who are trying to develop this greta game with junior codes, clinics and second or third teams - not kjust sitting back and cherry picking

Well poor old Pumpa - it seems the slight you laid against the blue baggers eviscerated (simon eviscerated) your questions - hmmm - most of my viewing was 4's this yer - so best - I'd go Goulburn's #18, Coota's #8, Pete Stevens, Yass #19 or 23 - outstanding midfileder and Ziggo - Guids from Yass is the most unstoppable forwrad though

Hardest - Coota's Part Time Ruckman #25?, Azza from Cooma (Cooma are a hard team), Rowdy at the Hogs, Seany Mc at Eastlakers, The backline bouncer at Yass too

BS mate,Without Googs,Eggo,Undies,Alty,Steamer etc. Woden blues would have never made it into the finals this year. They are the backbone of the team, they're the ones that straighten the side up.

All good juice for the pub banter boys, but the real story now is Mad Monday Champion.

Let's roll with the stories so far and only introduce the BS to protect the guilty. Who has some good ones to start with?

Let's move on. Ainslie blokes went to Gungahlin a few years ago and no doubt "helped" them to premiership success. Woden have ex Wildcats players in their side... SO WHAT

You have missed the most important part - they have actually made our comp stonger and I personally enjoy the challenge of playing against stronger sides, as opposed to whipping the weaker ones. If the Wildcats guys didnt go to Woden it would have been bad on two fronts
1. Woden may (or may not) be crap and playing them would not be enjoyable, and
2. What would happen to the Wildcats guys? retire in their late 20's - no way, that is not good for footy.

BMFC get blokes moving to CD level after service in the ACTAFL, why cant other clubs show some initiative at recruiting and get these players???

Twobobs, you missed the point. I totally agree with what you say however I was replying to Sir Ramblor who was insinuating that the Ex wildcat players were just making up numbers and had not significantly made a difference to the Woden Blues Club. Sure it's great that the players have somewhere to go and the team is stronger but lets not pretend that the Woden Blues would have been in the finals without them.

Go back and read the woden blog when the club allowed people to post - the club is the Woden Wildcates - take out any three of those players and its curtains like the big bad youdogs said - Gamblor and hid mate Ferrett need to get on same page - Ferret says only 9 left from 04 - Gamblor says nucleus - what the? Last 4 Woden Wildctas B&F's = Weston Creek, leading goal kicker, number one ruckman = Weston Creek - put the four players you mentioned elsewhere and its finals too

And read the blogs about anzac day - and get the drifts there

Youdogs is on the money

And teh last point - if Woden have the nucleus then how come one of that nucleus isn't the captain - they couldn't wait to give it to Tim Steam

Youdogs

There is no doubt the team is stronger with the inclusion of the Creek veterans.

If Altie isn't just about the most inspirational team mate I have played with, I don't know who is. Enthusiastic, passionate, knows exactly where they are going to kick it and for a bloke his size covers the ground remarkably. Champion bloke too.

Which is what everyone says on the blog about the blues - you are made stronger by your Wildctas affiliation - ask around your own club for a realistic perspective

PS - I feel for you Boo - shame the future of the club isn't with the young uns - catch ya soon though champion

Sorry up da middle - I thought Guids was the fullforward - blonde and real good and hard at it - I may have mixed up my nicknames

Swans through in div 4

ANU through in div 3 after coming back from a few goals down at three quarter time.
well done goulburn, it was a pretty scrappy game, lots of pressure and nerves i guess. only saw the second half but the one thing that stuck out like dogs balls was the pathetic attempt at umpiring. surely at prelim final time you could provide better than that. embarissingly bad , bit like my spelling

Ta Rowdy 1 - I checked on the blues web and gathered they hadn't won due to the paucity of celebratory report - glad for the swans too - hoping last week was just a hiccup - new premiers in both 1s and 2s - great for the game

Leading at 3/4 to finish second - are you going to retract your comments about other peoples being chokers and waynekers now

Something about falling and pride comes to mine mind

guids ? poids , poido is the only blonde forward i can think off. but real good and hard at it ??

Up da - where would I be without you - yep Poido - not Guido - I must have had a Sopornos moment - yep he is real good - and ubnstoppable on his game - a dual qualifier - starness and toughness

Richard i know i shouldnt come in late but you have left me no choice,I think im qualified to offer an opinon on the poido matter considering i coached him in 2008. The two words you quote in reference to the man have never been used in the same sentence pryor to your post.He is without doubt the most frustrating player i ever coached he has all the skills and is good of both sides of his body, trouble is in his highschool years he played the Tin man in the wizard of oz and has been looking for dorothy ever since. Were of to see the wizrad if i only had a heart :D

Well done the all who made the granny all four teams have been the form teams all year and desevre to be there im sticking with my pre finals tips and going Jets in the fours and Uni in the threes.
Good luck to all:thumbsu:

Well done to ANU, running over the top of the Blues in the last quarter 8 goals to nil.

The Blues had managed to open a 20 point lead at three quarter time, but once ANU got the run going with the wind, they were not going to be stopped.

The boys were proud of the effort this year - we were 7th or 8th on the ladder after 6 rounds, so to finish 3rd was a good achievement.

You aren't coming in late - Poor old RSPumpa (in what must have been a rare moment off the disco biscuits and drinking bong water) was asking whom were the stars and hardmen of Div 3 and 4 and it seemed to evaporate so I thught I would suggest my picks for the best of both - I am a spectator occassionaly - through the team I support and my niece is a boundary umpire - I have only seen the man you describe as a Tin Man three times - but he has 'seemed' very straight line and hard at the footy with all the skills - ADFA were terrified of him
