Also, the fact that clarkson hasn't won the award despite being in 4 finals in a row, and being the benchmark of the comp for 5 years straight just shows the absurdity in the selection process of this award.

It's not unusual for coach of the year not to go to a team that's expected to do well.

That happens in a lot of professional sports. Phil Jackson, who has 11 championships in the NBA, won coach of the year once. For him to win it the Bulls put together the greatest season in the history of the game. When the Bulls put together the second best season of all time, he didn't win it.

I don't mind Bevo getting it. Bullies had a horror off season and he got a young group playing exciting footy.

Simpson has definitely had a more physically advanced list to work with.
Yep, considering what happened to the dogs over the offseason, and that this was voted on before finals, don't think it's too unreasonable for Beveridge to get it.

But Simpson coached a whole season without a single fit and decent KPD!

Oh wait, that was Beveridge...

:p

Ive zero issues with Bev winning.
Ive always considered Eagles to be a finals team at the start of the season. Sure our season looked as if it had been derailed when Mackenzie went down.
But if we somehow finished bottom 4 simply due to Mackenzie's loss then I'd be saying Simmo is a terrible coach.

Also, we werent bottom 8:

Seriously, seriously stiff for Simmo not to win this... For Christ's sake he's only:
  • Lead a bottom 8 team to a GF in 1 year!
We were bottom 10 i.e 9th; a team just outside finals.

Now consider the Dogs, which were universally considered a bottom 4 entering this season, they were actualyl a legit spoon contender. Why? Look at the circumstances; new coach, lost their Captain and arguably best player (not too dissimilar to Judd situation), and didnt they have a new club president and administration as well as losses of other players?

It is difficult to say the judges' judgement is wrong without knowing their judging criteria.
I think we can turn the disappointment into glory this Saturday.

It could have gone to Simpson but WCE supporters, focus on Saturday's game. Grand Final means everything, all else is secondary..

Had it been my team playing on Saturday, I couldn't care less. This is the time for the Eagles to show that they can beat Hawthorn anywhere, anytime

For those of you who think its unfair just realise that clarko and simmo will probably get this award instead at one point:

Coaching Legend Award
Presented in conjunction with Pricewaterhouse Coopers this award is in recognition of the significant achievement and excellence over time of a former VFL/AFL coach.

Winners
2009 - John Kennedy Snr (Hawthorn, North Melbourne)
2010 - Ron Barrassi (Carlton, North Melbourne, Melbourne, Sydney)
2011 - Tom Hafey (Richmond, Collingwood, Geelong, Sydney)
2012 - David Parkin (Hawthorn, Fitzroy, Carlton)
2013 - Jock McHale (Collingwood) & Leigh Matthews (Collingwood & Brisbane)
2014 - Kevin Sheedy (Essendon & GWS)

Im personally happy for Bev hes done a great job especially off the field. Im sure simmo is wrapped for him also as they are great mates

Yep. Stupid award is stupid.

No Clarko - 4 GF's in a row and 3 flags
Worsfold twice coach of the year for one flag by one point.

And although the award is based on home and away, this year Simmo was the only coach who's team beat every other team in the comp.

What does it matter if you win a grand final by one point? As long as you win. We lost the grand final in 2005 by four points. Does that matter?

When he won the award in 2011, which he thoroughly deserved, it was because he was/is the only coach in the history of the VFL/AFL to take a side from four wins to 17 wins in the home and away season.

Luke Warm Beverage has been great this year. I don't think anybody expected Bullies to finish outside of the top 4 this year, but they almost made top 4 and played an exciting brand of footy all year. I'm not too upset that Simmo missed out, just so long as Lyon didn't win.

the western bulldogs will remain the the most overrated team of the 2015 season. Other than their win in Sydney, they've only had their impressive wins, and wins in general at Etihad, a stadium which significantly favors fast, aggressive footy. Unfortunately most people don't see this. Had they played all their home wins at MCG, no way they make finals. Just look, they beat the crows at Etihad by 10 goals, and then played them at the G and lost by a goal, and realisticaly i would say etihad was a 6-7 goal advantage minimum to the dogs, they just couldn't run out games that wern't on the fast surface.

Nothing taken away from the Bulldogs, a great young list, and their coach has them playing attractive footy, but again the most overated team off the comp.
It's their home ground, of course they create their game plan based on the ground...

In terms of a turnaround Simmo has improved our 2014 position by 7 (8 if we get over the line on Saturday). Bulldogs improved by 6 spots (14th to 8th, after factoring in their finals loss). GWS is third best improved (5 spots, 16th to 11th).

Given Simpson is leading the most improved squad of 2015 in a GF, I'd have thought he'd be a shoe-in for this award.
Why are you factoring in final when the award itself doesnt?

Going by your logic but not counting finals, the bulldogs are the most improved team in terms of spots improved on the ladder

Premiership Coach >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> AFLCA Coach of the Year.

I'm don't think Clarkson cries himself to sleep every year he misses out.

It's votes by ten coaches who are from Victoria ...nuff said

I don't think Simpson really gives a rats and frankly neither do I

There's only one prize worth winning and it's this Saturday

Bevo deserves it. One less year at the helm, complete disarray in the offseason, much younger side.

Still, I voted Other because there was no Jack Watts option

Honestly, probably better for Simmo to not have the distraction of any ceremonies etc at this point. Focus on what counts.

Bet if you asked any WCE player who the best coach in the league was they'd have the same answer.

Schoey? He is better than Brown. I have held that opinion when Brown pushed him out of the team after a poor patch and am even more convinced now.

Brown won't get a game when he comes back from his knee.

Was just being facetious. :)

I can see why Beveridge has won it. Simpson a bit stuff but impressive stuff from the Bulldogs this year. I can't see why Clarkson has never won it though lol mustn't be a favourite amongst the coaches...
