You have mentioned that the MCC would be compensated, but what about the Victorian state government?
The Grand Final contract isn't an agreement between two parties, but three. When the contract was extended in 2018, it added 20 years to the deal in return for $500 million in investment for Victorian AFL venues-- $25 million a year.
I’ll repeat my question from earlier— what financial compensation would the AFL need to pay the Victorian state government to get them to agree to a change in the Grand Final agreement?

A decent whack of cash all round I think.
The AFL got $80m for 3 years from the SA Gov for a new concept in Gather Round. I think you'd be looking at $100m at least from state govs for a GF, especially if we are talking 5-10 years from now.
So there is likely going to be a bit of cash in play should they go down this path.
Anyway, as you know, this is all hypothetical pondering - if you believe it would be impossible to imagine then so be it.
