Re: 2.30pm Today

And then watch as either Essendon or carlton shaft us again by taking him before us.
not if benny comes out and say " well im committed to playing for the Richmond football club, it them or none"
Dont think carlton will nab him because i dont think judd wants him there

He has 6 or 7 picks left to continue his career...I don't think he'll say anything to rule out any option without a cast iron commitment.

I don't think the club should say anything though...What do we gain?

Whatever we plan to do, keeping things vague for another day ensures we get another day of press coverage and increases our profile at a time when we're looking for a sponsor and trying to get members.

Not only that...if the AFL approve the extra pick today (which we are all expecting) and then someone poaches him before us, we pick up 2 youngsters.

Its really a win/win situation for the club :thumbsu:

Re: AFL Commission Meeting Now - whats will the decision be?

The commission will 'decide' in our favour.

When it comes to the commision, it all comes down to politics, image and money.

Richmond has played it's cards well by insisting they were going to take a kid at 6, so the only way cousins will get a gig is if we get the extra pick.

The AFL knows that public opinion has swung in his favour and they'll look like bastards if they stand in the way of that, and that if he plays, it'll bring more money in.

Right, wrong and justice wont matter. Deciding in our favour will make them look good, and bring in more money, so it'll happen.

Re: 2.30pm Today

I think any other club jumping in and taking him at this late stage would look stupid.

VERY unlikely to happen.

Totally agree.

They have all had their chances and categorically said "NO". To take him now would just be an act in spite of us getting him.

Correct, Cousins puts bums on seats & plenty of them & Demetriou will be laughing all the way to the bank

Re: 2.30pm Today

How?

Scenario 1 - We get a youngster with pick 6 and Cousins with pick 7
Scenario 2 - We get a youngster with pick 6 and another with pick 7

Where is the loss there?
the one where we don't get cousins & we pick up some shit-truck that won't play a game.

I see where you are coming from, but to be honest, this is a pointless discussion.

If we get the all clear for pick 7 from the AFL today (which is a 99% certainty), Cousins will be a Tiger tomorrow.

Re: 2.30pm Today

Unfortunately there will be no Cousins to Richmond. The AFL Mafia will not allow us to place Polak on the rookie list thus leaving us with only 1 pre season draft pick which will be used on a youngster. The way the club saw it was that they had nothing to lose really. They gained enormous exposure which they hope will land them a generous sponsor and if the Cousins deal happened to work out then that would have been a bonus.

In hindsight they probably should have taken one of these youngsters with pick 70, but the department only came up with the media exposure idea after the national draft.

At least we lived in hope for a couple of days and just the fact that we annoyed Eddie has been enough for me.

Terry and Kev want Cuzz and they both think they can turn him into a tiger

Re: 2.30pm Today

Sorry Sniper, but my mail is 99% sure the AFL wont be granting us our request, and that the club always knew it was a very long shot! The pros were just too much for them not to attempt it though.

How can your mail be right The commission only sat this morning to deliberate and reach a finding.

How in advance can you claim any authority over what they may or may not have chosen, Your just having an educated guess
