Just heard a little bit of Uncle Ricks presser on the news.
"As I said to Paul Haselby all old Race Horses have to go out to pasture eventually"
Not a great sign for Haze even if it was said in jest.

Very thankful for his corporate efforts, as president he has turned the fortunes of the club around to the point where we are considered elite in almost every off field regard.

A little dissappointed by his public speaking but still worthy of a massive pat on the back.

Cheers Rick.

The Fridgeman did some very good things [business side of things], however he is ultimately responsible for prostituting its playing future [draft picks] in the meantime.

Delusional. If you think a president has any say in those types of things you truly have no idea.

Despite where you sit on the Hase situation. It was rather in bad taste I thought, quite unnecessary.

I don't think I am. He had no say directly but he was the only one that had powers to pull Schwabby aside and stop the carnage. Otherwise, why the heck footy clubs need chairmen in the first place?

Club has no money.

Rick Hart arrives

Lg, Integrated, Reebok etc. all sign on and bring big corporate dollars

Rick Hart Leaves

Club is in the top 5 wealthiest in the afl

Fact is that is the be all end all of his role at the club...But hey there are people on here who are serial depressive types and cant be pleased about anything...

Cameron Schwab arrives.

Trades all our picks for established players.

Appoints a pair of puppets as senior coach and Chairman.

Team starts winning fairly regularly.

Membership figures surge.

Sponsorship increases due to an increase in members and profile.

Team underachieves 3 years out of 4 after trading away more and more early draft picks.

Coach, CEO and Chairman depart leaving the playing list in disarray.

Sorry MadMac, but I agree with Supersonic that you're barking up the wrong tree here.

I've been a CEO and if the President told me how to run day to day matters I'd tell him to get back in his box.

As the saying goes, you don't buy a dog then bark yourself.

No but he signs off on the contracts on those who do. The footy department also goes to the board regularly to outline their strategies going forward.

I'm stoked to see that everyone who was on the board that re-signed Connolly in February '05 will soon be gone.

Day to day matters are one thing, but if you were a CEO taking the company down the wrong path it's hard to see a board keeping you on.

Dom is on the money here. I believe that CEO's job is to run the company's daily matters but if things start going south then who, if not the president/chairman, is responsible for removing a CEO?

I'm perfectly fine with that, and I've been there before.

If firm policies are in place that the CEO isn't following, sack them. If not, put some in place or STFU.

Arent we just so knowledgeable with our weapon of hindsight.

So now a president who is in place to maintain the profile of the club and represent it on the corporate level, apparently also has the ability to sack anyone and make any decision himself in the day to day running. Putting that aside, you have mentioned the board as your argument... Rick Hart is not the board as a whole.

Heard of the WAFC?

Some of you need to realise that a bank statement and dinner invites were put on his desk on a monday morning, not the club injury list or rookie draft prospects...

What do you think would happen if jeff kennet walked into clarksons office and told him what to do now that the team is underachieving?....morons

Can anyone explain to me why Jenny Morris was appointed to the board, what her skill set is and how long her appointment is for.

I'm at a loss.

Try reading the FFC site or searching for her.

Shes a very good fit and a great get for the board.

I never thought I'd see the day such an objective, sensible post would appear in one of these threads. SD, thankyou! Great post. :thumbsu:

Rick Hart leads the board, thats why he is the president. He was part of the decision making process who selected guys like Connolly, and gave him another contract in 2005 - unless you are going to tell me Hart wasn't behind that move, and he had nothing to do with it?

He was the lead in a process to select guys like Schwab, guys like Connolly - he was the president and ulitmately what happened during those years was his responsibility.

You can't expect a president (or a CEO for that matter) to micro-manage every development at the club. Hart's tenure was an improvement on the past, in both on field and off field endeavours. Ultimately he should be judged on the fact we did not win a premiership. That's what football is about. Seven out of 10 for me.

His three big mistakes were:

- Re-signing Connolly in early 2005
- Giving the big tick for the year at the end of 2005
- Letting that slimeball Schwab go on a MBA junket only a few months before Schwab pissed off.
