heard from a pretty reliable source that we tried to trade up for ports pick in the 30s to get Jed Adams, even though we'd already taken Hayes. Port knocked it back and Adams went 2 picks later. (despite the tightness of list spots too)

If its true, we must REALLY think we need defence help, i guess we took montgomorie which would suggest the same

not a surprise
our full back has rotated between Stewart (forward), Laverde (forward/undersized), Reid (not ready) & Zerk (late season break through)
CHB is no better and not helped by still being unclear on who the FB is in Rd1.

Any wonder we turned down the offers for Daniher in 2019. had he left, we'd have had a spine that was a 31yo Hooker ready to retire and that's about it.
How we went from Hooker, Hurley, Carlisle, Daniher to where we are now is a fair indictment on list planning. One KP taken between Carlisle leaving, Hooker/Hurley approaching retirement & Daniher's initial trade request.

As it stands we have Reid (<20 games), Hayes (0 games), Zerk (<30 games) & Cox (is he a defender) as our key backs. Or it's Stewart and Laverde again.
Which really isn't ideal given one isn't a defender and the other is sub 195cm

If we're planning on playing the midfield we are planning on playing we're going to need the seven best defenders in the league on our team.
