First year in DT.

I am not prepared to go through all posts in the 2006 & 2007 DT thread, so I ask for your opinions on which posters provide good advice & which posters have done well in recent years.

I am entering a league with others who have played the game for several years & am just trying to get an edge.

Thanks

:)

What about Tom Hislop? As mentioned before the Dons have an ageing midfield, Hislop has a pretty solid build for a kid. Only worrying thing is that he wasnt in the side for the first NAB Cup game, hopefuly we see him in the practice matches

Ageing midfield?
Watson, Stanton, Lovett, Winderlich, Dyson, Dempsey, Houli, etc are not old in my eyes.

I have not really planned my side yet.
I have just taken notes on a few things.
I have watched every single minute of the NAB CUP so far though. ;)

All this reasearch talk is rubbish.
All you need is a good knowledge of the game and a good knowledge of the players.

If you dont have this then I dont see the point of even coming on this thread in the first place.

100% agreed.
However, you still need to look into a few things.
i.e current fitness levels, injuries, form, change of playing roles, starting price, etc, etc...

Agreed! Essendon have got rid of a lot of old wood, whilst keeping some experience and making them work for it - J&MJ for example. Even as a Pies supporter I reckon there list looks very very good, starting with the young guys in the middle.

I'm sure this will be an unpopular comment amongst other Pies supporters but I think their time is coming - probably not this year but I'm sure there will be another Jobe to come out of this year's Dons DT.

Who is going to break through though?

Tell me why Houli is such a prospect, yet to be convinced that Winderlinch is a happening thing, Dyson - same, Dempsey as a forward perhaps, Lovett Stanton Watson yes.

Warney wouldn't be here, he'd be schmooozing Simone.

Anyway, any thoughts on Clint Bizzell from you guys? I would think he'd be pressing for a start again and we know he is a good up and down backman who must have respect from his coach. Not sure how the injury has healed, did anyone seem him in NAB?

imo it is much more important to have a good knowledge of the game
then to be studying and takin many notes....

havin the knowledge of the game and knowin enough players aust wide
is more then enough imo..
compared to doin a heap of study and note taking

Always been a fan of the half/backs for DT purposes. BigFooty has him at $237,800 so maybe he's not a miracle find. Purpose call.

Hmmm little higher than what I would like. At 61 points I thought he had more of it than that.

The other one to impress was Hargrave and hes done better at 81.

Just checked, he is $232,000 - dammit i want something cheap.

I was just wondering with the AFL increasing its salary cap to $6.4 AUD million for the year 2007.

How good a reflection of a website if the AFL dream team in regards to 'real' player earnings?

I don't mind that as being reasonable value to be honest.

There is plenty to like about the doggies this year (as we all know) - but good quality consistent scorers as backman that aren't going to be called for hands in the back are quite hard to come by.

Yeah not too sure. I am not allowed to watch the game because I'm outside the AFL area ... which burns me, but anyway, how did Ray do?
