Planning my trades for next week already, and any advice would be appreciated:

Let's assume that Cotchin impresses :thumbsu: again tonight against Essendon, and demands selection next week. Let's also assume that Stanton is once again on the nose . Who should I drop to include Cotchin?

A. Stanton 325k (approx) BE: massive, to make 205 odd k

B. Gibbs 321k, BE: 49, to make 200k

C. Palmer 298k, BE 18, to make 178k

D. Browne 154k, BE 6, to make bugger all.

Certainly option D would give me great depth but little cash for upgrades. I'm reluctant to part with Rhys or Bryce because they both have more money to make and are performing so solidly. But then I don't like bailing out on out-of-form champions either and making losses. But one must say goodbye. Who?

Had Pfeiffer as Emerg and with one down in the backline, he has saved my team this week! Also Pavs last quarter helped as I have him as captain this week.

Got Cox, Embley and Masten (E) playing so will be interesting in the wet against the Crows.

Same position and i have no idea either. I will make a case for Gibbs though, i think he could be a great 6th midfielder and better than Palmer. Ratten decided to release him for the first time in his career today, he had 71 points at half time. He was then forced to play down back a lot more in the second half because it was better for our structure so his score suffered, 22 in the second half. This won't happen when Thornton comes back next week. Won't get tagged like Palmer and only had 70% gametime this week, mainly because it was his first time playing as a full-time midfielder. He could be a very consistent 80+ player with the ability to score big unlike Palmer. Palmer doesn't tackle alot and surprisingly doesn't mark all that often. I'm not sure who i will get rid of, Palmer, Browne or Geary but i'm pretty sure i am not getting rid of Gibbs, he has to much upside IMO.

On Stanton, keep him. Don't see him getting tagged as much simply because the Bombers are shocking at the moment. Also looking at their draw, not many teams that have effective taggers in their teams, he should score much better than he has been.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the response. I suppose there's always option E. Don't get Cotchin at all. But are there many more quality mid rookies to debut this year? probably not. Who knows, injuries or suspensions can always make the decision for you. I'm leaning toward keeping Gibbs ahead of Palmer simply because he's a second year player, less likely to burn out, and is surrounded by more quality. It's just a pity that Cotchin's arrival didn't co-incide better with Palmer's maxing out in a couple of weeks time.

If Cotchin scores 60+ tonight, it think he is a must get. Makes a great replacement because pretty much guaranteed a 22 spot. Its hard to cement a spot later in the year for other rookies so many will struggle to be quality back-ups. Normally if rookies play later in the year, they are just being tried and are in and out of their sides.

Apparently Wallace had this game tonight earmarked as Cotchin's first. Unfortunately it was raining last week so a tall had to make way (Pattison) and Cotchin got his first game a week early.

I may be wrong but I think it is a joke. I think the AFL game day live has shat itself!! Coxy went from 10 to 19 and no-one else moved. Too may players in both the current games on 0 and -ve numbers.....
