Doubt he will even get a game at the dawks. A midfield boasting Crawf, Mitchell, Hodge, Lewis etc is going to be hard to crack.

If they play him on a HFF then he will score sweet FA.
Clarkson loves Dew. Have you heard him talk about him? He was his coach at Port and he basically overuled everyone at the draft table when it came to selecting him. I have no doubt that if fit and ready Dew will play all 22 games for the Hawks.

He's not a midfielder. He'll be used possibly in a sweeper type role accross half back or as a pinch hitting half forward flanker.

What are everybody's thoughts on Brad Ottons on Fan Footy he is listed as a Foward and Ruck so would he be a good pick up in the Foward line and affectivly be playing 3 Ruck Men. He had a average on around 82.And now with Abblet gone he may drop Foward more often. Just thought id throw it out there. Thoughts ??

If you pick Ottens forward then who do you pick in the rucks? If you're gonna spend 320k on a ruckman may as well put him in the ruck, though I guess he could be a bit of a roughie choice.

Yeah i didnt know who to get instead of him in the ruck. there is Lade but well he dosent have age on his side. I was just thinking it is a cheaper alternative than the Pavlich, Reiwoldt and Johno Brown combo that i have at the moment. But i supose if i trade Reiwoldt for Ottons then i could spent the left over $$ and get Dean Cox but i dont think there is much advantage in doing it that way rather than the other way.

I think I'd rather Cox and Ottens to Riewoldt and Lade, but are there no other options at that price in the forward line? Franklin/Lynch/N. Brown could all be worthwhile as well.

hopefully lade can do well enough, but cox is still going to be a must have for all teams, whether you start with him, or work up to get him

perhaps lade as second, time will tell. i will start with simmonds, and if he does well, and rises enough, i may sell him for lade, depending on form of course, but ottens may also be there aswell

so although most people have the cox, simmonds combo, not many will, by seasons end

^^^^^ Lenny Hayes , or if you want to make some money Goodwin

Quick Question to any Carlton fans, where do you see Jarrad Waite playing this year? Will he continue to switch between back and foward or find a permanent position?

^^Bruce, Montagna, Hayes or Stanton.

Ideally he would be played as a full time forward, but I don't think Carlton have the resources down back to allow them to do so. I expect he'll move back and forth again this year, unless their young defenders really come on.

Jarrad Waite will be playing mostly CHB this season there's no doubts about that...He's been training mostly at CHB this preseason, and really, they desperately need some talent in there back half...

Bolds i don't really like.Downgrade Van Berlo to Butler or Coughlan and then you will have enough money to maybe change laycock to simmonds and roughead to Hawkins? You could also find a cheaper alternative to Johnstone and upgrade Nash? Also try work on your bench

Otherwise your squad is looking good.

Great back and mids rucks are alrite forwardline a bit average and ya gonna get killed by ur bench. I have the same problem in my forward line but instead of roughead and le cras have hawkins n le cras n dont wanna hav 2 play both of em but may not hav a choice.

What do people reckon about where Didak is gonna play this year?

sort of solved my forward line problem -
riewoldt
pavlich
s.thompson
hawkins
didak
hall
n.thompson

rioli
daniher/morton(not listed forward for some reason:confused:)

but this leaves me with butler, coughlan and one of sherman/schammer in the midfield.

I dissagree with that i would say keep Roughhead, i think that more attention will be focused on Buddy freeing Roughead up. I dont think he should downgrade Van Berlo because u would b trading for 2 players both coming of injusrys and not garunteeded to play the whole year. And i think Van Berlo Might put a big 1 in this year :thumbsu:. but there just my opinions.

I'd say he has a strong midfield... but a weak ruck division and bad backline

Like I said, players are usually priced at exactly their average from the previous season, unless they get picked by VirtualSports to be discounted. And VS usually only pick long-term injured players who have played less than 11 games, so you can probably only expect players like Goddard and Griffen to be discounted. Rookies who were tested out for a couple of games late in their first year don't generally get discounted.

THE BIG QUESTION AT THE MOMENT IS WHO WILL BE THE DISCOUNTED PLAYER/S!

Last year of course Adcock who the year before played only 8 games.. Two years ago it was Goodwin who had played 10 games the year before..

Looking at some midfielders who played less than 11 last year..

Chad Fletcher - 9
Jason Johnson - 10
Andrew Embley - 11
Adam Yze - 8
Nick Stevens - 3

Most likely to be discounted would be STevens because of his longterm injury, but I would be happy to see any discounted
