THE BIG QUESTION AT THE MOMENT IS WHO WILL BE THE DISCOUNTED PLAYER/S!

Last year of course Adcock who the year before played only 8 games.. Two years ago it was Goodwin who had played 10 games the year before..

Looking at some midfielders who played less than 11 last year..

Chad Fletcher - 9
Jason Johnson - 10
Andrew Embley - 11
Adam Yze - 8
Nick Stevens - 3

Most likely to be discounted would be STevens because of his longterm injury, but I would be happy to see any discounted
Stevens is an elite ball winner. He wont get the number one tag anymore. Should rack them up. ;)

Does anyone know how he's been training? Was a pretty serious injury he had...will he play nab?
I dont think he did any competitve work prior to xmas it was more aerobic and strenght training. He's been training with the main group for a few weeks now and all seems to be going well. In terms of NAB Cup I'm not sure whether he'll play. But you would expect him to line up round 1, especially if he's named as captain.

The last time Yze played a good game Jesus was playing full back for Jerusalem.

I'd be really nervous about picking Stevens coming back from an injury like that sight unseen......if they named him captain though they'd have to play him. Mind you, Koutafides....

Alot of confusion here... The ONLY outlier from the formula last year was Adcock as far as I'm aware, and he WASN'T discounted, there was a problem in the calculation. Adcock was exactly half the price he was supposed to be. If a player hasn't played enough games, their price is based off the previous season, otherwise the regular formula applies.

Don't count on any of the above players being "discounted" this season. Hope that clears this up a bit...

how do you explain simon goodwins price in 2005 then?

Im not saying there will be a discounted player like that.. but in previous years it has happened. So i just listed a few players who had played 11 or less games.

That's actually wrong. There are two ways that players get discounted. Either their price gets halved - as happened to Adcock, Brooks, McGlynn, McDougall, McConnell and Morton last year - or they use the same magic number but change the average they use to some multiple of 5, as happened to 13 other players. We haven't been able to figure out a system yet for what multiple of 5 they use. And then there were over 100 players who played between 1 and 8 games who didn't get discounted, again seemingly at random.

Two years ago I looked at every possibility why simon goodwin was only about 150k and shane crawford was about 300k despite both playing 10 games and crawf only having an average 5 greater than goodwin.

From memory crawf ended the season with a back injury, goodwin a knee, correct me if im wrong.. but i just put it down to being a random occurance at the time.

Well, you're the expert Monty. I just thought I read a post last year saying that the formula applied to everyone except Adcock. I might just sit in the corner for a while... Sorry Modra.

you want comments on your team after posting it and telling everyone it was under the salary cap a couple of times only to be proven wrong. You at least need to post the total for anyone to believe you again.
