Was just thinking if worst case scenario occurs and a player/s does catch the coronavirus. Instead of cancelling the season we should have an AFL e sports season instead. The players could play an e sports/lanparty type arrangements in teams of 22 with the quarantined players still even being able to participate. Coaches still effectively playing the role. Umpires would take their leave. Players would still get rubdowns after scoring goals etc provided it's safe. Many people would laugh but watching other people play games gathers a massive base (pewdiepie etc).

The 2020 premiership could be regarded as an AFL-e premiership due to the circumstances and obviously not count to the official flag tally.

In Japan there is a well watched televised computer baseball league, where gamers represent the real teams and play off in a league format. Goes pretty well.

In another 20 years or so this type of thing will be rivaling physical sports.

Too bad it would take 2 years of further development to have a s**t game that we could do this with.

NBA2K are simulating the rest of the NBA season game by game and putting it on Twitch. Last lakers game got 12K viewers apparently so not a big audience...yet.
