In the past WW have been slammed on social media whenever they’ve released promotional content, it appears as though they are deliberately holding off any pre release footage of the game this time round.
I don't think I'll be buying it.

Probably because games around Christmas typically do well with sales. They're targeting parents who'll buy their kids this as a present. It's not amateur at all when you think about it, it's a smart business move and I'll be buying it.

There is a reason why Madden, NBA2k & Fifa are released just as there seasons start
The reality is that this wasn’t plan A and that this has happened because of the delays, so if their choices are release it in December (when it’s ready) or sit on it until March, then I’m not surprised they’re taking a punt on December, this could give them two sales boosts, one for the initial release and then again when the new season starts with the dlc update

FIFA etc also have dedicated fan bases who are the majority of their market, AFL games haven't been able to build that and so the parent buying Christmas presents are likely a bigger percentage of sales.
Judging by the last few games there won't be a price drop anytime soon and so even though it's a rubbish time to release I'd be surprised if it actually hurts sales.

i will buy it when it is on sale early January. new games aren't actually that 'new' (i.e. revolutionary) and go on sale within weeks now
This game won’t go on sale for a very long time, if ever, they can’t afford to cut the price and hope to make a profit/break even

I could be wrong but I think Evolution was at least a year old before it was discounted, and similar for all of True Blue's AFL games.

Pretty silly marketing. People buy games on impulse during release because it's something new. If people don't pay top dollar on release, they're most likely not going to pay the same 12 months later or will pick a used copy online.

But would you write a review for the CD unheard? I've got pretty low expectations for this one, so much that I'm not expecting to buy it, but I'm still not going to make a decision until after I've seen it.

Iv'e been a gamer for 30+ years. Pretty obvious it's not looking good.
If they're looking at xmas for release, most people cap their spending for presents. If it's under $50, they will move more units.

$50 would barely cover platform royalties, retailer mark up and distribution. No wonder Australian game development is in the pits because people want everything for nothing. $99 is RRP in Australia, $69-$79 launch prices are at the cost of the retailer.

Just because it’s not at the quality of an EA or 2k Sports game, does not mean they lower the price
